EURO is more amped for next week and more rain for this weekend.
I didn't see the Euro 6z but today's 12z looks way less amped to me than the overnight run?

Euro says "hello, snow minima" to me and @Mount Joy Snowman

The Ukie is oh so close at the end of its run as well, with a low right off the cape.
Just saw that - even with the various models that are misses, they won't require much for a better outcome.

Pretty funny you brought that up. Sitting at work in AC and was talking about that this morning, how OC is a dry town and how much liquor gets delivered into town from the stores just outside town.
I wholeheartedly approve of working in AC. In fact, I approve of doing just about anything indoors in AC.

I missed that! And I'm going to rectify now.

i told her i was a little pissed that i wasn't in a suite
So, she's working for Bears FT now? Trying to remember...I know at one time she worked for or was interning with the Senators but I thought she latched on FT with Hershey.

The bar keep said you want a double...........well since you ask, sure. He rings me up and say $64. i damn near swallowed my gum
I watched the game, I was thinking of the 2 of you. Hope you had a great time. Memories to last forever.

Team Canada is going to be awfully tough to beat with MacKinnon and McDavid on the ice together. The level of their excellence is really on display in 3X3 hockey. Would not what a game to go to OT if I'm team USA.

FWIW I wouldn’t give you a hard time for posting in the mid Atlantic sub forum. Ignore those who act like dicks.
Thank you for that. You have a great sub, and with as many people that are in your area, there's going to be a few who act out. It's just frustrating because well, most down there have had more snow than what we've had, which leads me back to the point that they have this oddly weird assumption that north of the M/D line it's frozen tundra from October to May. We're in the same boat. Especially those of us on the southern tiers of counties in PA.

You might be right on the theory that a colder Saturday suggests more blocking and that is likely to hold next week and push our storm south.
I don't think it would, though, but do believe the final track of next week's threat will be effected by this weekend's storm i.e. this weekend is the table setter. In that regard, a track further west would be better I think. But it's all pure speculation.
That's exactly what I wanted - I want this weekend's storm to go west, my friend.

5 hours ago, WmsptWx said:Going to assume the lack of posting overnight is a signal that Ruin, while annoying, may be correct. Again.
This is sort of OT but I want/need to respond to this please:
First, @paweather I thank you for your kind words. In truth though, I do not wish to popular. What I do wish for, and what I strive to achieve every day in and out of both the office and at home, is to be respected.
When I was interviewed by the Director of HR years ago, he asked me what was the biggest goal that I wanted to accomplish. Without any hesitation, I said that I wanted to be THE most respected person in the organization. I wanted to truly be a resource for our people, to engage them, work with them, help them...you know, do all the things that I think an HR person should do but often don't because most have their heads up the keisters and don't give the people that they are voice for any attention at all. Well, that ain't me. And I've built my entire career on Mentoring, Coaching, Collaborating, etc. So what does this have to do with Ruin?...
If you go back, you'll see that I've never berated him, called him a name (other than Ruin) or anything else like that. I've tried to encourage him to find SOMETHING to be positive about. I'll challenge anyone to find a post of his that wasn't either negative or complaintive. Maybe one exists, but let's be honest here...he's a wet blanket. Which leads me to this - I am far from the person that I still strive to be. I fail, and I fail a lot. In the past, I've been called out by people like @pasnownut for some of my incessant negativity. (I always thought that when I was negative I had reason to be so (
) BUT...I sat back, thought about it, and realized that I was failing both myself and ultimately others. And I'd like to think that I'm a much better poster today than even just a year or two ago. I love to learn. I want to grow, to be a better leader, father, husband...I try and learn from my shortcomings. I got a little harsh with @Blizzard of 93 a few days ago over a comment that he made that I felt wasn't fair to the person he was referring to. I could and should have handled that better. Life is full of learning opportunities...
So, when I made my post in the past couple of days about perspective and gratitude, that was my online weather forum attempt at doing some coaching. It was my turn to try and payback and help someone (Ruin) grow, just like others have helped me grow. And maybe I should just stay in my lane and keep quiet and let this simply be a weather forum and talk specifically about weather...but my own goal in my life is to be my best so that i can help others...and I saw an opportunity and went for it.
It might be very awkward and weird to some of you, that's just the way I'm wired. I want the very best for all of us. You stop at the gas station to fill your tank, why not fill your life the same way?
@canderson - the winds will be here soon.

so in summary.
- Toss it for Saturday,
- Hug it for 2/20.
that was easy....
I think it's quite interesting that last night's Euro gave us nothing on Saturday and then a big dog next week.
I'm telling you, I think we want this weekend to fail...

0z Euro is amped. Big snow totals across a large portion of PA, many areas between 1 and 2 feet. Mixing SE.
Edit: this is for next week's potential event.

Bahahahaha not THAT wrestling. I mean, I assume the guy was the son of an undertaker?? I also remember he lived at elevation, something like 900-1000' up on Blue Mountain. Cmon, you guys are the stewards of all-things weather message board. You are THE people to tackle this conundrum. Someone has to know of this guy or the board I'm talking about! Think deeply gentlemen!
You aren't kidding. I was outside walking around for lunch and couldn't believe it was still snowing, let alone at that intensity (a steady light snow). In fact, it's still snowing. This is amazing. Never saw this coming in terms of duration. Now as for accumulation, that's another story ha.
Enjoy! I arrived at work around 8:30 and it wasn't or hasn't snowed at all. Sun (dimly) has been out a good chunk of the day.

Some random names that come to mind
Josh Lindstrom
Todd Gross
Ryan Hanrahan
Brian Monahan
Edwards Moran
Ryan Hanrahan was CT_Rain or something like that? He was another one who changed his screen name at some point, but I always enjoyed reading his thoughts.
I don't recognize any of the others.
Sounds like a pretty good line for tonight's 4 Nations Faceoff though!

I think it might soon be time for another installment of "A Day In The Life of Central PA Weather" - I have some new, fresh content to share in this year's edition but I don't want to ruin it for anyone before I have time to publish.
Yes, that was intentional.

I'll try and squeeze in my data for the storm thus far.
In Carlisle, around noon, it continues to snow lightly. It's been snowing lightly for hours, but at a rate too slow to accumulate very much. It does look beautiful out there with almost no wind and everything covered in white. My temperature is 31.8 degrees after a low overnight of 26.6 degrees. Since midnight I have recorded an additional 0.8" of snow for a storm total of 1.5". I won't melt the snow down until the current storm officially is over. Yesterday's 0.7" melted down to 0.07" of liquid for an SLR of precisely 10:1. At least we are getting to enjoy an all-snow event before the mixers arrive later tonight.
I'm sorry, I got off-topic.

I just wanted to add that I have no earthly idea what any of you are talking about with regard to the history of this board haha. However, maybe 10-15 years ago I did lurk on a couple of other weather boards, which sadly I cannot remember the names of. One in particular was geared towards central PA and had a few loyal posters, one of whom I remember because he was like the top dog and went by the handle UndertakersSon. The board called him UTS. Does this ring a bell to anyone?? Just start naming some old PA weather boards and maybe one will ring a bell for me. If not, I will crawl back into my hole and speak of none of this ever again ha.
I've only been on Eastern and this one. There were a lot of personalities back on Eastern, one of which was a young guy named Colin. He lived up near Hazleton I believe. He made Ruin look like Blizz. There was another active poster from the Wilkes Barre area that then moved to NYC and disappeared just in the past couple of years.
One of my most favorite posters all-time was the met HeavyWx. He still posts occasionally in the MA sub, he was a met in State College that moved to Virginia. He would come in advance and during big snow storms and start talking like Typhoon Tip...I'd get all excited at what he was saying even though i had no clue what the hell any of it meant.

Central PA Winter 2024/2025

I still feel good about next week. Not sure about a "big dog" but I feel like a warning event is something we can realistically hope for...
