ok that would explain it. this is what I was asking to me it looks dry as a bone and not what the models suggested. Ty for explaining any reports coming in at all? atm im 20 miles south east of harrisburg airport nothing but a cold stiff wind.
I'm 14.8 miles SE of the airport and I had an incredible batch of heavy sleet earlier. And others SE of me got in on it as well.

Aaaanndd just like that, after this latest heavy batch of sleet, everything is covered here as well.
You and I are entering a lull now it looks like.

Temp down to 29 as a moderate to heavy mix of IP/ZR moves through. No real accumulation from the sleet but everything is completely iced over already. Great time for the Sterling radar to go down ha.
Everything is white here. All surfaces.

I just drove home from Mechanicsburg on 114 . Absolutely no salt is down, and there are far ro many people on the roads considering surface temps. I have a bad feeling people are misjudgeding radar and approaching conditions.
I had to tell my wife and kids that bad weather was coming this evening. None of them heard anything about it. The event earlier in the week was played way up, I guess because it's the weekend this one got far less attention. Many, many people are out on the roads on Saturday evenings going out to dinner and other activities. More should have been made of this.

Moderate freezing rain and 26 here. Roads already iced over (development roads)

I agree that the word plowable should mean 3-4" plus. But in today's hyper safe world, if there is even a coasting on the road they plow it. If we get 1-2" of snow the plows will be rolling on the interstates. Some of it depends on weather after the storm too. 2" of snow and temps headed to the 50's and maybe they do not roll.
You should be getting some significant precip at any moment based on radar - wonder if it's sleet or freezing rain?
-
Of course, it doesn't matter what a meteorologist numerically defines it if the local road crew starts plowing at a different depth.

They plow here for anything on the road. Even 1". With that said I did not check thermals that closely re: laying on the road. I just looked at the final accums.
Wow. Interesting.
I remember as a kid, Elliott Abrams would be on WSBA York live in the mornings. He would talk about plowable snows and one morning the guy interviewing him asked him exactly what that meant. Elliott said that he and his Accu Weather friends generally defined it as at least 3". That's always stuck with me.
I just did a quick search to see what people are saying today. The short answer is it depends on who and where. For every forecaster who says 3" there's another that says 2". I didn't come across anyone saying 1" but they didn't consult the Rouzerville road master. LOL

Down to 30.6 here - whatever falls is going to wreak havoc me thinks.

Plows down for much of LSV early next week on the rgem and gfs. 1-3"
I must live in an archaic area. I don't think I've ever once seen a plow on my road for anything under and maybe even including 3". LOL

I still contend and look forward to a snowy Tuesday. I'll be surprised if it isn't. I like 2-4", heavier amounts south.

Sitting at 33/18 as very stray minuscule flurries have broken out. Not expecting much down this way but I do think someone like @Voyager may do okay today.
Interesting. No flurries here. My sleet lasted 47 seconds and now the sun has popped out. Radar looks...uninspiring.

Precip arrived as 100% sleet. 32.0

On my phone what do the snow maps have for us Blizz?
I can't post a map right now but it looks like the 2" line runs the southern half of the southern tier counties. About 1" up your way?

actually tomorrow event og was suppose to be mostly snow up until recently saw models calling for 5 inchs maybe mixed with a little sleet I have little confidence in the storm being anything on tuesday ive even seen recently some models showing ending as rain washing a good bit of the snow away. while yes I always say models suck but if the last few years showed us anything lol
This is 100% false.

Well, the event has not happened yet & I don’t think anyone necessarily believed the huge totals for the Tuesday event.
I still think a moderate 3 to 6 event for the LSV is Very Much on the table.
After that, the pattern remains loaded with potential as the Ops & ensembles have been advertising for days.
It’s just a matter of time until we get a flush hit over the next couple of weeks.
I agree completely. It did seem like some thought we were going to get buried on Tuesday. That's all I was saying.
I'm still fully invested in Tuesday for snow.

If the NAM 3km is correct...you just might get your wish. At ~2:1, Lanco is looking at about 0.6-0.7 liquid falling almost as all sleet. Uhhhhh...models!

@Itstrainingtime I fully realize you are yearning even more snow maps but I am writing to tell you I am done for now so if you had Friday evening plans, let 'er rip!
LOL, thank you. I try to ignore them but it does get challenging. I wonder what happened to the dozens of snow maps for next Tuesday that showed me getting 1 to 2 feet?
I'll save my opinion.

This storm looked like a nothing burger for days. It was this past Thursday's storm only drier.
We have had so many short term models fall on their face in the spring and summer this year we would refuse to believe any rain would occur when we had 70% plus chances. The other side of that I discovered were these areas with a 10% ending up with deluges from the blue. Let's cheer for nature giving us many changes for randomness to occur

I'm excited for the potential of sleet tomorrow. I genuinely like it. If I get 1" of that I'll be thrilled.

Stark contrast between the Harrisburg area and just SE of there. No sleet here for the past 4 hours. Ended with a coating.
