I knew Zak too. Way back around 2008 or so Zak's handle on Eastern was Mr. B. He was a junior in Greencastle high school then. After he graduated he went up to Penn State pursuing meteorology. Unfortunately he had a sudden health issue (which I can't remember the specifics of), and was forced to leave State College and transfer to Mt. Alto. After the transfer due to his health issues he had to change majors. I think it was related to law enforcement. I'm pretty sure he finished up there and graduated. We lost contact after that other than I know that he met a girl and eventually they got married and moved to Virginia. I don't know anything more than that now.
Thank you for filling in my gaps. I had the gist of the story but this was helpful. I sincerely hope he's doing well.

i could sense you were bummed last night. I was in your camp, but we all know that the pattern IS getting a bit better moving forward, so if we can keep the chances coming....chances are you get your flush hit. And if not, nickles and dimes still fill the jar.
Sometimes I need to heed my own advice. I really get excited for big storms...the thrill of the chase is electric. Of course, they don't come our way that easily and we were 100% spoiled from 2003 through 2016 when we had like 7 or 8 of them. Now, it's been 9 years and the itch is growing. I pulled back and realized that I wasn't being very rationale. I'm sorry for my temporary wet blanket.

anyone remember Zak who use to post here. young dude who also had some talent
Absolutely! He changed his screen names a couple of times, I remember him being Easternwx or something of the sort. I think he lived out near where Bubbler is for a while and then moved to VA maybe? I'm afraid he might have had health issues or something?

Sat Winter Storm is pretty beefy on GFS though temps 30-32 for much the southern half of PA should limit road issues. 2-4" of snow for Easters.
I'm happy...I guess? Blizz had me feeling guilty last night for not wishing this to turn better. Thinking about it, any snow is good snow. And there are no guarantees going forward, so there's that too. It would be nice to see yet another snowy scene...
I'm just craving something special though.

Didn’t the Philly people all move to some other board?
Yeah, "PhillyWx" which I don't think exists any longer. I posted there as well as Mitch and a few others. A lot of the Philly area posters bolted here for that site when it was started by Tombo.

I often think the same thing. (as JNS)
You have (literally) millions of people in the New England, NYC, Philly and Baltimore/DC areas. We often easily outpost Philly and we're not far behind the others with WAY fewer people in our area. I think he's 100% dead on right. I don't think it's even close. How can you not see that?

ya know, until i read your post, i forgot about the guy and his youtube videos. I wonder if he is still posting videos? he has helped my snow fix in the past
He is, but he hasn't uploaded for a month because it hasn't snowed much. He'll be sharing big time this week as they are about to get demolished.

Why are we in a WWA today when the forecast is for less snow than last night?

That's just it! I find that sub a "must read" for me because there is a LOT of good information shared with some truly exceptional posters.

Those buildings look very much like the one that we stayed at in Mammoth.
Speaking of Mammoth - 50-70" fresh snow expected tonight into tomorrow. Gotta love the forecast "snow...maybe heavy at times, total daytime accumulations of 33-39".
I hope if they're expecting 3' of snow just during the day tomorrow that it comes down pretty good at times. I mean, to get to 3' they need to average like 3"/hour for the entire day...

I do not get the envy of other areas wither...if they did a drive by in our forum and put up brag posts, maybe.
There is a sub that neighbors ours that seems to have a lot of posters who are jealous/resentful towards us.
I don't get it. At least for those of us in the LSV, our climate is very similar to theirs. We typically do better in March storms but there are many events that they do as well if not better than we do. They're ahead of us this winter. But reading their comments, it's like they think that we're at 97" for the winter. They have a perception that just isn't true.
The thing is, there has been posters who have shared thoughts here...Hoffman, Mappy, Chris and others. All of us have welcomed them openly. But if one of us goes down there ( @Ruin) they get pissy quickly all because of the false perception that they have.

Snowing left good here right now. I’m guessing this was a 1.25” event - very surprised and pleased about the well morning returns and having to leaf blow the sidewalk.
So what did you do to amend your "final" total of .5?"

Again, it's another day where it just feels and looks like winter out there. Those types of days have really piled up this winter. Regardless of snow totals, I've really enjoyed this winter season.
I want to comment on this - we've both (and a few others have well) uttered similar things over the past couple of months.
It really comes down to perspective and gratitude.
I could choose to come on here and say "this isn't fair, Virginia's got more snow than me!!!!, or, and this could be me speaking - "my undeserving but incredibly lucky family members who all live in the stupid Rehoboth Beach/Lewes DE area are now at 200% of their seasonal snowfall average and it's only 2/12!!!!"
Or alternatively, I could say "this was to be a crappy winter pretty much wall to wall with maybe a few week stretch of winter if we're lucky, but instead we've already had a LOT of cold, a LOT of snow events (even if most have been light), a lot of days with snow cover, and quite possibly more on the way."
I don't have my numbers in front of me but one of the past few winters I went an entire season where my temperature fell below 20 degrees TWO TIMES. The lowest temp was 16. And then there was the winter with about 1" of snow the entire season. And that year wasn't to be as bad as this one was forecast to be.
I just wish people could enjoy what is happening. Just enjoy this. Don't worry or get angry or whatever because of what isn't happening. Open your freaking front door, walk outside and behold the beauty of winter 2025.

You did better than me. I was way too high Harrisburg and North. A little too high for southern LSV. But I was not going to change with every model run on this one. Settled on 3.5" here. A LOT of people gave up early last evening and called it prematurely.
Happens every single time.
I'm simply on a lucky streak.

2.2" total snowfall. Overall pleased with my prediction. (guess)
That area of snow on radar is intensifying but it's also consolidating/tightening up west of the river. Some very light snow is falling here currently.

Big storm still there on tonight's models but in response to the block it's a miss for us right now.

SN and 27 at 1am. Looks to be about 1" or so but tired eyeballs are struggling.

Best snowfall rates of the day currently. 27 degrees.

Sixers play infinitely better without Embiid on the floor.
-
What a disgrace this team is. All 3 "stars" in the lineup and they lose at home to a shitty team minus 3 of their top players.
Sickening.

Holy cow does Joel Hans Embiid suck.
