  1. And a good morning to you RE. If you haven’t really gotten used to the winter cold in this area are you sure Lake Tahoe is where you want to retire? Although dry in the warm season, frozen precipitation has been experienced at least 10 out of the 12 months of the year. To many, including myself, it is or would have been a dream location. As always ...
  2. Good evening Rjay. I wouldn’t be surprised if forky led a multitude of our red breasted friends in a rousing rendition of ‘Rockin Robin’, while canceling your garden.. As always .......
  3. Good morning Irish and thank you. I was, in advance, looking for an accurate summary recap of the NYC primary elections. As always .....
  4. Good afternoon forky / NYCW. Actually if there is wheatger like today’s in July, nothing at all. Also it might occur if the A/C is going full blast and the house thermostat wasn’t reset for winter. As always ....
  5. Good morning DIT. Looking out the back window at the postage stamp I was musing that in my coastal neck of the urban woods I could probably copy and paste this day to a number I’ve experienced during meteorological winter. As a matter of aged stubbornness in May 29th, I’m still keeping the window open. As always ...
  6. Thank you Tony, I see you received your first Weenie, congratulations. If you think ‘grilling’ is a summer pastime just wait until winter with a frozen threat on the horizon. As always ....
  7. Good evening Z. If their ultimate act of procreation is accomplished without looking at each other, its no wonder that it takes 17 years to come to fruition. As always
  8. Downpour just began over the postage stamp, no lightning or thunder, just gusty rain. As always ...

    RIP James

It was to be a series..... and how ironic the title. It won’t end, James, not as long as your/our forum exists. As always ....

    RIP James

A persons legacy is measured by the thoughts of those he knew that are still here. This young mans legacy is magnificent. The tears from the sky, if they come by weeks end, will be welcomed and appropriate. As always ....
  11. Quite a history, H2O. All those years, never aging, forever young. Have a care, I believe PhineasC knows Van Helsing. As always ....
  12. Thank you so very much for the detailed and even explanation/discussion. You’ve made me nostalgic for the way information/news was formally reported, with content/facts being more important than opinion/bias. I’ve sent the video to my grandson who is already showing an interest in atmospheric science. As always ...
  13. Good evening, Don/bluewave. Are there any efforts, ongoing, to address CPK readings. As always....
  14. Darn it. Angus; even at my age your word of caution got me excited. As always ....
  15. I remember the quick, at home, school lunch chicken pot pies in the 50’s. A cardboard box containing a small aluminum pie plate. I don’t recall the brand name but I’d do recall counting two peas and one small cube, of what may have been chicken, surrounded by thick filler gunk. The early TV dinners were also an adventure, as I recall. As always ....
  16. Good morning, Anthony. In anticipation of the first NYC 90 degree day I can understand. For some of us at the stage we are at/in, winter is the only season left for us to look forward to. Stay well and enjoy the sun, warmth and listen to the rain. As always .....
  17. Good morning tamarack, powderf and DavisS.. ....“Light their way when the darkness surrounds them; Give them love, let it shine all around them. Keep them safe. Keep them warm.” Lyrics that have comforted me over the loss of a fellow creature and friend through the years. May we all find peace. As always ...
  18. We are so self absorbed with our own brand of intelligence that we forget the capabilities of our fellow creatures whom often use it better. As always ....
  19. Good morning, Liberty. We should get some interesting CPK readings if and/or when the cicada swarm ever emerges. As always ...
  20. So sadly true. Some did steroids to enhance the muscular look and paid quite a price later on. Others succumbed to lifestyle/illness issues, Haystacks Calhoun, diabetes/ double amputee, others played the circuit well into their 60’s. George the Animal Steel was forced into being a referee for roller derby because the state athletic association would no longer allow him to perform because of his age. Today much of what we watched and enjoyed would not have been permitted due to today’s understandable sensibilities. Macho man Randy Savage, The Iron Sheik, Chief Big Heart to name a few that could not survive/thrive easily today. As always ...
  21. A number of pro football players found second careers on the circuit. Ernie Ladd was one. Some were veterinarians such a Dr.Jerry Graham of the infamous brothers. Their family was quite active for many years. Jerry got in a little trouble over 60 years ago for, on a dare, flying his small plane underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. Today he’d probably end up in A Federal lock up. As always ....
  22. Ah yes. I remember a televised staged run in between Gorilla Monsoon and Mohamed Ali, who was a pro wrestling fan. I remember Monsoon saying. “ this guy doesn’t know the difference between a wrist lock ant a wrist watch” .As always ......
  23. Good morning, Ginx. It may be former but it was a good life. My, in person, memories go back to th 60’s in the brief but fun existence of the Bay Ridge Sports Center. I managed to shake hands with Antonino Rocca and enjoyed booing the bad guys such as Tony Altimore and the pre Luca Brasi, Lenny Montana. Before that it was the fifties, sitting next to my grandmother as she cheered the Italian wrestlers on channel five. I had to be careful, my grandmother would sometimes get carried away by the staged bad guy tactics and I could end up the recipient of an unintended four arm smash. I also managed to learn some of the best, not for mixed company, Sicilian dialect words. As always ...
  24. Good afternoon SJWX, To me Tips posts are an anachronism, wrapped in reality/science, sprinkled with metaphysics to be read slowly and enjoyed, albeit carefully .... oh and sometimes it’s catching. As always ....
  25. It sorta reminds me of the ‘Ignorance’ based sources that warned us in our youth that if we continued to practice a particular type of behavior we would lose our sight. Of course our retort was “Can we do it just until we need glasses. Well at least I know how the ignorance based sources evolved and found relevance. As always ......
