  1. Made it to 70 here. Not bad for an east winds day. Sun is out and it's a beautiful afternoon.
  2. Yep I love variety with weather. I love a winter with plenty of warm days but also some big snowstorms.
  3. Still hanging on to 89 degrees here, but I know it won't last much longer. Should have a pretty good drop here around 5pm. I enjoy a few torch days this time of year, but I wouldn't want it consistently hot this early. May is the big lettuce month, and obviously the lettuce crop wouldn't be as good if it was hot all the time. I can wait until June for the consistent hot weather. I'm glad we're going back to more normal highs in the 60s and 70s after today.
  4. Gotta enjoy it today! Back to the cool east winds the next couple days. At least it appears that there won't be any more cold weather where there would be a threat a frost. I think it's safe to plant the warm weather vegetables like tomatoes now. I'll be doing that Thursday and Friday.
  5. Had a decent downpour here. Didn't last long but it delivered a quick quarter of an inch of rain. The soil was very dry, so I'm glad we got a watering. Had a high temp of 80. Looking for 87 or 88 tomorrow. We might get another little downpour with the backdoor cold front during the afternoon.
  6. The thing is though, lettuce is supposed to be planted in late March in this area. If you plant lettuce now, it's way too late of a start since it will be maturing in weather that's too warm. Maybe leaf lettuce is more vulnerable, but I've never had a problem with my romaine lettuce plants taking a frost/freeze. I was just outside and they still look great after last last night's freeze. No problem for the broccoli, peas and radishes as well. I did water very well yesterday. My lettuce is just about ready and I'm gonna pick some today.
  7. The soil has really dried out here. I'm watering the vegetable garden every other day now. I'd like to see some rain, but as you said it appears the pattern will be dry for quite awhile. A couple chances next week (Tuesday and Friday), but they don't look impressive right now. I hope this isn't gonna be a case of going from one extreme to another after the very wet pattern we had.
  8. Tomatoes do very well in the heat, but I've found that peppers don't like it too hot. They often slow down during very hot periods in the summer. I usually get my best crop of peppers during the early fall when it has cooled off.
  9. It hit 72 here today. I knew today would overperform for my area.
  10. I cut the lawn for the first time this season today, and there was actually some dry dirt flying. Never would have imagined that a couple weeks ago. We were in such a wet pattern with constantly saturated soil. The ground is pretty dry now, and as you said it looks like dry weather moving forward. We definitely needed a good drying out period, but I think a week or so from now it'll be getting to the point that I'll want rain again.
  11. NWS has upper 60s for my area tomorrow, but we often overperform on sunny days. I wouldn't be surprised to see 70.
  12. We might hit 70 tomorrow. At least upper 60s. I agree that today is a beautiful day. 63 here right now. Great weather for exercising outside.
  13. Yeah I cringe when I'm at stores and see tomato plants out this early. I'm sure there was some damage this morning with the temps near freezing.
  14. People would be foolish to have warm weather stuff like tomatoes in the garden this early. I still just have cold tolerant vegetables like broccoli and lettuce in the garden right now. Important to wait until early May for the stuff that's sensitive to frost in this area, but I guess they put up these frost advisories for people that plant too early.
  15. Nasty today. Only 51 degrees here right now. Not much to talk about for awhile. Finally in a dry pattern. Maybe just a shower on Wednesday. Pretty much just normal temps (maybe slightly below a couple days) for late April over the next week with highs in the 60s. Boring weather ahead, but I'm ok with boring for awhile after all the rain we've had in recent months.
  16. I was wondering the same thing. Only 0.01 here. So much for the rain event, but this is still miserable weather with temps barely hitting 50 today. Looking forward to breaking out of this on Saturday with temps well up into the 60s. Monday and Tuesday look nice too with temps well up into the 60s and possibly near 70. Too bad another significant cooldown will likely be coming mid to late next week though, as Bluewave has been pointing out.
  17. Nothing wrong with sweating a little bit. Enjoy it.
  18. 82 here. Spectacular weather. Very warm temps feel great with the low humidity.
  19. Yeah definitely more than we thought. Latest HRRR shows this band pretty well with about a quarter inch across our area.
  20. We might get a third of an inch out of it. Decent batch of moderate rain incoming.
  21. Yep looks like it's just gonna be some moderate rain for us.
  22. Strange that RGEM is showing rain for tomorrow afternoon. The other models are dry. I assume the RGEM is off its rocker. It's supposed to be a beautiful day. Probably the warmest day of the next 3 as well with temps well up into the 70s. Enjoy the 70s today through Tuesday., Too bad we're going to be backdoored with cool and damp weather for Wednesday and Thursday. Hopefully we can break out of it a little bit and have a decent day on Friday.
  23. Decent downpour with that line. It added 0.15" here, so I'm up to 0.99" for the event. Another batch of lighter rain coming up from the south as you pointed out, so that will get me to a little over an inch for the event. I'm glad this didn't end up being another one of those 2 to 3 inch super soakers. We didn't need that, but an inch was a nice watering for the vegetable garden. Tomorrow looks nasty. Cloudy and windy with high temps only in the mid 50s, but then we go back to nice warm weather on Sunday. Looks like a nice stretch of mostly high temps in the 70s for Sunday through most of next week. Then probably a cooldown to below normal temps next weekend. Anyway I hope everyone has a great weekend!
