  1. But you need the cold air in place to have a chance at snow. I like warm weather in October and most of November, but now it's time to start rooting for colder weather for snow lovers.
  2. The models continue to look cold in the long range all the way out to December 10th. At least we're looking at a cold weather pattern for the 1st half of December. That gives us a chance at seeing some early season accumulating snow at some point in early-mid December, even if it's a light event. Certainly beats a warm weather pattern.
  3. It was the coldest of the season so far here this morning as well -- I got down to 26. I still had some leaves on a couple trees in my yard, but the hard freeze this morning knocked the rest of them off. I'll do the final leaf cleanup tomorrow.
  4. Vegetable garden finally got finished off early Friday morning with the low temp getting down to 28 here.
  5. I was just out in the garden and picked some peppers and pole lima beans. Still producing because we haven't had a freeze here yet. It's gonna be a close call tomorrow night. If not tomorrow night, the garden will definitely come to end end with the cold shot early next week. We'll be going below freezing Monday night.
  6. Yeah the fall foliage isn't nearly as nice as usual this year. Obviously the drought had a very negative effect. A shame that we went so dry for months after the tremendous flooding in mid July. We just don't get normal rainfall anymore -- it's either way too much or not nearly enough.
  7. Low temp of 34 here this morning. A little frost, but those pole lima beans in the garden are amazing. They still look fine. I'll still be picking more over the next week. I'm thinking around November 4th is when the vegetable garden will finally be killed.
  8. Had a low temp of 37 this morning. The vegetable garden lives on. I don't think we'll be able to avoid frost for too much longer though with this cool pattern. Maybe we can get through next week, but I'll be surprised if the garden doesn't get killed during the 1st week of November.
  9. 0.34" here last night. Just enough to give the vegetable garden a watering.
  10. Yeah I'm sure the NAM 3km is way overdone with the .75 to 1 inch for our area, but HRRR is probably underdone with the less than a quarter inch. Your prediction looks good -- probably close to a third of an inch. Obviously not enough to help with the drought, but I'll be happy to see the vegetable garden get a watering.
  11. Only a tenth of an inch of rain here last night. No surprise. The drought will continue to get worse with this dry week. Hopefully we'll get some help for the drought next week, but who knows. At least we have perfect viewing conditions for the peak of Orionid meteor shower tonight. Clear skies and no moonlight. It should be a good show.
  12. Only 0.42" here so far. Maybe we get a quarter inch more this afternoon into tonight? At least it's enough to give the vegetable garden a watering, but not nearly enough to bust the drought. I was hoping we'd get a lot more from this storm, but of course the signs were there that the heavier amounts would be to the south and east.
  13. 12z Euro doesn't really bring the rain in until tomorrow night, but then gives us a decent soaking tomorrow night and Monday. A little over an inch of rain for this area. Overall this storm doesn't look as bad as it did a few days ago, but I'm glad we're gonna get some much needed rain.
  14. Wow that's a very early first freeze for your area. Thankfully I only got down to 37 here, so the growing season continues. My pole lima beans are still producing heavily and I don't want that to stop anytime soon.
  15. Yep but different than GFS. GFS gives us our heavier rain Sunday morning to early afternoon, and then lighter rain after that. Euro just brushes us with a little light rain during the day Sunday, and waits until Sunday night to bring in the heavy rain. Obviously we have a long way to go to figure out the details.
  16. 0.41" here. I would've liked more, but that's not too bad. At least it was enough to give the vegetable garden a much needed watering.
  17. 12z RGEM looks pretty good too. Hopefully we're still on track for a decent soaking.
  18. That would be horrible but of course this is the lousy NAM. I see RGEM and HRRR tonight look better. Just give me a half inch and I'll be happy. Obviously it isn't going to be a drought buster, but we really need a decent watering.
  19. At least most models are still showing a nice half inch to inch soaking for tomorrow night into Wednesday morning. Hopefully that will hold. That would be a much needed watering.
  20. Yeah almost everything was still open. It was almost as busy there today as a summer day. Perfect weather for it. We always go a few times during July and August on Wednesdays because they have fireworks on Wednesday nights, but it's nice to go down there one more time during the early fall before things close down. Almost everything will be closing after next weekend. But anyway just to get back to what we were talking about with the Belmar forecast. I see Belmar had a high temp of 82 today, so we were right about the NWS forecast of 72 being ridiculously low. It felt like summer this afternoon walking up and down the Seaside Heights boardwalk.
