0.52" here. Not bad. A much-needed watering for the vegetable garden.

Really looking forward to the beautiful airmass the middle of next week. Will probably make it up to upper 70s for highs, but it will be just about the lowest humidity of the summer and that will lead to very cool nights.

I have Romaine lettuce out there for the fall that I started from seed about a month ago. This cool rainy weather today is great for it. I can see it having a major growth spurt today. It has been so dry over the last month, so it really needed a day like today.

0.18" here so far. It has been light but it's steadily adding up. At least it's enough to give things a watering. We'll have to see if we can get a heavier downpour from the activity in PA later. HRRR isn't picking up on it but it's possible.

0.09" here so. A pretty good drizzle is coming down right now. I hope we can get a half inch here from this event. A lot of the models have the heavier action missing to the south and the north.

Same here. Pretty good evidence tonight that if there is going to be very heavy rain, it will likely be to the south. Most of the 0z models give our area a quarter to half inch. I'd be very happy to get a half inch. I see the HRRR backed off on the insane amounts, but it still does show some isolated 5 to 6 inch amounts so the south.

NAM 3km looks a lot different than HRRR. It doesn't have the heavy rain to the south but gives parts of north Jersey 1"+ amounts. Tomorrow is going to be very difficult to predict.

I'm sure that's the crazy HRRR making an error. Some areas will get heavy rain but I don't think anyone is getting a foot of rain out of this lol.

I see 12z Euro now gives us a significant amount of rain Wednesday. Keeping my fingers crossed because we really need it. Almost nothing here over the last month.

With temps going into the low-mid 90s today, jt would have been an 8 day heat wave here had we not broken it yesterday. Still 6 days in a row of 90+ was pretty impressive.

With the pattern moving forward looking very dry, I really hope we see something today. It appears that the activity is gonna be widely scattered though. So little rain the last month. I hope the same thing that happened last year isn't going to happen again with our area going into a drought at the end of the summer.

It hit 91 here today, so we made it a 5 day heat wave. It most likely ends tomorrow but it's going to be close. I think we'll probably stop at 88 here tomorrow, but we have a slight chance to extend the heat wave to 6 days.

Yeah I talked to a neighbor when I got home from Seaside Heights tonight and he said there were lots of close lightning strikes. One of the best lightning events of the last few years. Fast moving storm though so it only dropped 0.32" here. At least it was enough to give things a watering. I can finally take a break from watering the vegetable garden tomorrow.

I went outside last night at 1am and watched for an hour. As expected, it was nothing like last year's show due to the bright moon. The moon was in the part of the sky in which I saw the most meteors last year. It really ruined the show .... I only saw a few faint looking ones. I'm looking forward to the Geminid meteor shower in december. The moon won't be an issue so that should be by far the best meteor shower of the year. Hopefully we'll have clear skies for it. I don't care about being out there in colder weather as long as it's a nice show.

Almost no rain the last few weeks. We went from flooding to an extremely dry ground here. I'm having to water the vegetable garden almost every day. As Stormlover said, today's activity will be hit or miss. I'm really hoping we get a heavy downpour today, but I'm heading down to Seaside Heights so I won't be here to see it if it happens.

Had a high temp of 93 here today. 91 yesterday and 90 on Sunday. We'll make it a 4 day heat wave tomorrow. We'll see if we can make it a 5 day heat wave on Thursday ... it's gonna be close.

I see GFS now keeps the heat for Thursday on the 12z run. If we get any rain out of the way Wednesday night like this GFS run shows, the heat wave will continue on Thursday which the Euro has been showing.

And the Euro doesn't have as much activity Wednesday night and Thursday. The rain threat doesn't look great right now. It's really gonna be ugly by next weekend if we don't get any rain.

GFS keeps the heat going through next weekend, with maybe just a brief interruption on Thursday due to clouds and rain. I'm really hoping we see some rain Wednesday night or Thursday. It's very dry out there. The grass is burning out now.

That flooding that we had seems like a long time ago. It's gonna be rough next week with no rain to go along with the heat. I'm concerned about going into a drought in the coming weeks. This Euro run doesn't even give our area an inch of rain for the entire run. I hope it changes, but right now it looks like a very dry pattern. A lot of watering will be needed.

Euro really keeps the heat going for a long time though. This run says the heat wave will last all the way through next weekend for my area.

We've had almost no rain here since the flooding a few weeks ago. The ground is very dry and I'm having to water the vegetable garden often. Next week looks rough with very little chance of rain during the big heat wave. The grass will be burning out. I know Walt was talking about a potential flash drought a couple days ago. I hope we're not heading towards a drought like what happened last year at the end of the summer and the fall.

Talk about a hot Euro run. Heat wave next week, but it's even hotter in the long range for the week of the 18th. We're getting a nice break here in early August, but mid August is probably going to be the worst part of this summer. We had those extremely intense heat waves in late June and late July, but they only lasted a few days. The heat in mid August is going to be much longer lasting.
