  1. Looks like this HRRR run was way overdone. We don't have the heavy storms across west-central NJ that this 12z HRRR run was showing for 2pm. HRRR has since backed off somewhat. We do have some small downpours popping up here and there. I'm getting a little shower here right now.
  2. At least it's perfect timing though with 3 great days for the big holiday weekend. Even tomorrow with temps going into the low 90s, it won't feel bad out there with dewpoints only coming up a little to the low 60s. Couldn't have asked for a better 3 day holiday weekend.
  3. I hope the power comes back for you much sooner than that. I can't imagine not having it for 7 to 10 days, wow. But the main thing is you're ok. Horrible that some houses got crushed and 3 people died. We root for strong t-storms, but of course we don't want to see a storm that's this incredibly severe.
  4. Hey Stormlover! I'm glad you're ok. I lost power a few seconds after my last response to you. The power just came back on now -- over 18 hours of no power here. By far the longest power outage I've ever experienced. We didn't even lose power for long here during Sandy. I agree with you -- this was the worst storm I've ever seen. Wind gusts were easily over 70mph here. Projectiles flying through the air like I've never seen before and the biggest amount of trees down that I've ever seen. Couldn't cook dinner last night with the power out, so we decided to go to Longhorn Steakhouse (they didn't lose power there). Usually it takes 8 or 9 minutes to get there, but it took over a half hour because so many roads were closed. Was starting to think I couldn't get there but I found a way. It was amazing driving around and seeing the huge amount of damage. Definitely the worst t-storm damage ever since I've lived here. Since the power was out so long, I decided to cancel our 4th of July cookout today. Not enough time to get things ready now. A shame because of the perfect weather, but we're gonna have the cookout tomorrow and Sunday instead. I will still light off some fireworks tonight though.
  5. Holy Cow. This is the most severe storm we've had in years. I just watched 2 trees come down. Insane north winds gusting over 60.
  6. Warning for Middlesex as well. Very strong wind gusts here right now.
  7. Hopefully it holds together enough to give us a decent storm. It certainly looks good on radar right now.
  8. Pretty dry out there -- dewpoint is down to 58 here. Temp is 90. Nice summer afternoon.
  9. Should hit at least 90 here today, but the dewwpoint is down to 62. Doesn't feel bad out there with the lower humidity. Severe weather risk this evening, but it looks like just isolated activity and more likely to the north.
  10. I got 0.32" overnight after getting 0.49" yesterday. I see HRRR says the heavy stuff is gonna miss to the south and only gives us light rain tonight, but who knows. Some other models hit us. No big deal if today ends up missing since I already got a nice 0.81" soaking. Feels very steamy out there with the dewpoint at 75.
  11. Yeah that was a nice downpour. Not much wind or thunder, but it came down in buckets. Glad the garden got a good watering.
  12. NAM 3km and HRRR have a pretty good round of showers/storms tomorrow but pretty late, around 8 to 10pm. Hopefully we'll get a decent soaking either from that or the potential round overnight tonight.
  13. Me too. It has gotten to the point that we could use some rain again. I had to give the garden a good watering yesterday. I know we have a pretty good chance of storms tomorrow, but I'm hoping the models are right about a round of rain happening overnight tonight.
  14. July 4th continues to look great on the models, and now Saturday looks good too. The models now hold the rain off until Sunday. Give me good weather for cookouts and fireworks Friday and Saturday, and I'll be very happy. Of course it's still a week away, so we hope things don't change.
  15. It did touch 80 very briefly here this afternoon when the sun came out, but then dropped back to the mid 70s quickly due to the east wind. 73 right now. That east wind felt very refreshing when I was out running.
  16. Enough sun here now that I popped back up to 79. NWS was right about it rebounding this afternoon.
  17. Seems as if a lot of people here are enjoying it. After 3 days of extreme heat, this is a refreshing change. I wouldn't want this cloudy cool weather to last for too long, but I'll take 2 days of this after that insane heat. It was too hot to go running outside the last 3 days, so I'll enjoy running out there today and tomorrow.
  18. Hard to believe it's gonna pop back to 80 degrees this afternoon with the clouds and east winds. The temp is down to 72 here now. And tomorrow will be a struggle to make it to 70.
  19. I just hope our dry July 4th holds, but of course accuracy at this range isn't very good.
  20. Yeah the dewpoint got down to 66 here. Definitely feels better out there today despite getting to 101. Yesterday's 99 felt horrendous with dews in the high 70s. About the worst feeling day I can ever remember.
