This stream auto-updates

  1. Past hour
  2. First flakes just sw of Forest City. Just started.
  3. HRRR sticking to its guns, shows this being active through 3pm with remarkably similar totals run to run for this area. Which are actually going up since we already have snow on the ground that it isn't initializing with.
  4. First flakes of the storm just started 10 minutes ago just sw of Forest City right off hwy 221.
  5. First flakes just started 10 minutes ago.
  6. The northern stream flow has to relax and go more west to east and also the arctic air can't be all the way down to Georgia - these suppress the entire pattern - the models lately have been terrible because of a lack of data ( weather balloons etc out west ) BECAUSE OF CLOSED NWS OFFICES apparently.
  7. my daughter's friend broke her wrist on Monday - you almost need those old-timey sleds with metal rails
  8. Right as I posted the flakes got bigger; now have peas with dimes.
  9. Looks like radar is filling in back to the South west too, with a solid area that may move over everyone south of 40, provided it survives the Plateau.
  10. I’ll sleep after it stops snowing lol. Heavier bands are setting up ahead of that oak ridge band now. One is popping over my house right now
  11. It's happening! As we approach the magic hour the radar is filling in. It is snowing pretty hard on me under that band. Not huge flakes but rippin good at 21.7 degrees. These kinds of rates will add up if we can keep em coming.
  12. i’m ready to rock ‘n’ roll, I’ll sleep Sunday.
  13. You get first dibs on the thread for your birthday storm
  14. I'm going to be up for a while for this one. Coming down like crazy right now. I'm going to measure at 3am. I suspect we'll be pushing 6'' by then
  15. Bring on 2/18 that’s my bday storm. Can we get 2 more between weds and then? .
  16. GFS with back to back storms out of the gulf at the end of the run, the first one looking like a repeat of this weekend. Would be nice if one of them turned the corner and made it all the way up.
  17. You may be a little too far from the radar for it to see that band well. I hope some of our Knox crew us up, looks like heavy snow sagging across them.
  18. Yes, he admitted that and that he's not sure why the models are all over the place. His theory is the cuts in funding for weather balloons
  19. It is coming down, I've definitely crossed into heavy snow, I live on a state highway and it's now fully snow covered for the first time since it started, though its also 22 degrees which definitely helps.
  20. Get on one of those plastic circular 'sleds' like I did once. Go down a sleet covered hill. You will go fast as heck!!!!! Good luck trying to stop. I was wearing gloves. They got shredded. Glaciated sleet pack is superfast stuff. Ride it at your own risk.
  21. 12.4F here, 13F at DCA. Could hit single digits overnight.
