  1. Past hour
  2. Was traveling yesterday but I see that there were spotter reports of a funnel in Belchertown yesterday with serious tree damage in mine and Powderbeard's old neighborhoods on Turkey Hill.
  3. Pretty good model agreement that summer comes to an ignominious end in about a week. We break the backbone! Jeez I hate summer.
  4. My neighbor works at a local Home Depot. He told me this weekend that the Halloween supplies and kits have arrived and they plan to set up displays soon.
  5. Cool and wet. The month had measurable rain on 23 days and the average max was 69.9, our only sub-70 July with only 2021 even close. Thru the 16th, maxima were running -8.4, and for the month -6.4, both incredible departures for a summer month. That was an awful summer but August was salvageable. True, but it was way too late for my garden.
  6. 2009 was the summer we had hail every few days/ week or so?
  7. I saw on Twitter someone had posted a display from a Target with Halloween stuff (this was a couple weeks ago lol).
  8. Dew point continues to drop now at 62, wow ! But, cloud cover has increased and I see showers on the radar to my far South near extreme Southern DE. Going to time in an outside landscape project tomorrow and Weds AM., only because of the cooler weather and lower dews. Some folks tomorrow morning will be thinking of Fall, with thoughts about Fall coffees, pumpkin comes to mind.
  9. My memory of July 2009 was cool-especially the first half.
  10. Back when we used to do widespread damaging wind events well. Those 90's years into the early 2000's had some memorable events. We would even do overnight severe well. August 9, 2000 was something...was non stop crashing thunder.
  11. That big CU field must hsbe been the wind shift. NW now and dew down 59. See you again soon on Wednesday Dr. Dew
  12. events like this are dead https://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/archive/event.php?date=20000602
  13. This is the perfect weather imo. And, of course, I’m at work the whole day.
  14. Plenty of reason to head to Woodstock Treehouse location to rip a few back . It’s right there.
  15. they're responding to the sense that it is cooler than it was, being their sole trigger
  16. Haha yeah they are all headed up to a wedding here so I’ll miss them at the Lake. It’s my folks’ 45 wedding anniversary so our clan is meeting up down there.
  17. heh... you're responding to 'if pixels then plug it' posters. i mean you know that anyway, just sayn' there's not much objective analytical effort there. see blue ( or red if it's the other season)? it gets pasted in -
  18. Today
  19. @wdrag already mentioning FF pattern concerns up in his area of the NYC forum. Seems the PWATs will be climbing again as we head closer to the weekend.
  20. The Southern Delta Aquariids meteor shower peaks Tuesday night into Wednesday morning next week. Hopefully we'll have good sky conditions. The moon won't be too much of an issue, so it should be a decent shower. You can see up to 15 to 20 per hour with good conditions. You can catch the early part of the famous Perseids meteor shower now too. The peak of that shower where you can see a much larger amount of meteors (50 to 100 per hour) is August 12th to 13th, but unfortunately the mostly full moon is going to be a major issue. So the Perseids won't be as spectacular this year. Probably a good idea to try to catch the smaller amount of Perseids along with the Delta Aquariids next week before the moon becomes an issue in August. The best meteor shower this year is expected to be the Geminids in December.
  21. we had a chance in june but we got a weird flash flood blob instead of a derecho
  22. yup...this is what summer used to feel like in the 90's after our FROPAs...when we used to also get nasty squall line blowing across the region.
