LMAO it’s true, this thing would likely be significantly less impactful than some of the Ohio valley derechos we’ve seen this summer even if it became a hurricane
-
Here’s Martz’s follow-up 5 minute video, which incorporates the “massive bedrock collapse” beneath the glacier as opposed to glacier collapsing, itself, theory that he quoted in his prior post, which I just posted two posts above this: for those who don’t have an X account (like myself), you can just read the captions at the bottom instead of hearing it: @donsutherland1@chubbs

2026-2027 Record-breaking El Nino

CANSIPS def. has that Canadian ridge too far NW....I'm sure of it. -
After the Rockies series, the Boston/Cleveland/Toronto stretch will determine the season. 6-4 through that at worse I think is what the O's can afford.

Nice to see the o’s finally take some momentum against weaker opponents. But if they do make the playoffs, they will have earned it. Nowhere to really hide in their September schedule.

The CanSIPS completely missed how east based this event has become and is just repeating the same error in its current forecast Most other models also showed this to some degree but not to the same extent. It also underestimated the record warm pool east of Japan so I would take forecasts in that area with a pinch of salt also. -
That's true, we could get glorified storm cell makes landfall with hurricane Force gusts, aka an ordinary summer afternoon in Texas
-
You are making my point that you are not a winter guy...in the coming years you and your buddy from tolland will be sitting around the shuffleboard area at some condo place in FLA....perhaps living side by side....while watching the Weather Channel as they report on an historic blizzard in New England...all the while thinking "Those Poor Bastards" lol

While I do think Chris Martz is largely off his rocker and clearly biased, this new information (if verified) does change the background to the Nepal floods significantly IMHO: https://x.com/MatthewWielicki/status/2094549198473740371

My yard is dead and oaks dropping brown leaves. About as bad as the drought a few years ago. -
No way this is becoming a hurricane. Still so weak and not enough time until landfall.
-
I was a bit shocked when I saw that this morning and wording of "significant strengthening expected" prior to landfall. Certainly we've seen this develop a nice looking circulation but there's been little evidence of any potential for significant strengthening. Even latest recon passes aren't finding much. Satellite presentation and evolution doesn't really scream that either. You never know with these Gulf systems though...who knows, we probably get hurricane winds that extend 3 miles from the center

So far the rain trajectory on radar keeps me on the "have not" side of this equation. Soils need a good drink but if it stays dry today there's 2 fields of trees that have orchard grass up to my shoulders that need mowing. Just don't scrape me with 0.10" to ruin both options. -

Odd...CANSIPS corrected the El Nino east again, but pattern actually trended a bit better. Maybe a sign of what I was saying about Modoki value not being a big deal when you have this much warmth throughout the basin, or the model is just OTL
