  2. Quick question....we have established that the climate is warming, so why is it news that this was the warmest October in a super El Niño?
  3. Then how was it more favorable earlier in the season if the vortex was so far to the east? I had well over a foot of snow right before xmas... February had no method of cold delivery into the CONUS in 1998....I don't feel like that will be the case this during that particular potion of the season, though it will in the mean. Forcing is also stronger and more expansive not only to the east, but to the west. I feel like people are getting too carried away with the magnitude and orientation of El Niño and are far too linear in their thought process.
  4. Low of 41 yesterday, 42 this morning. Beautiful day here. Currently 72/58 at almost 3:30 pm
  5. I've answered this question, and your highly cerebral response was "I don't give a shit".
  6. Ya, but other than a tropical system getting up here this time of year….or a bonafide winter weather event(which are both rare in October), I’ll take this great autumn weather over a breezy rainy day.

  8. Has it weakened at all from its super typhoon status?
  9. Where does October sit for above normal temps? It feels very warm, no need for heater at all and usually always. We need it by now.
  10. 100! That's my fear if we have a total fail...that's probably how.

  12. It's great out there no doubt, perfect for outdoor activities. Also a snooze fest in terms of any real excitement.
  13. Looks like mid 30s here tonight, so I think we'll be ok. The vegetable garden will likely continue for quite awhile. As others have pointed out, the fall foliage season this year has been strange with some trees early and some late. Overall not as nice as last year too. I was up at Swartwood State Park in Sussex County yesterday, and trees that were a brilliant red/orange at the same time last year didn't have that color yesterday. The color was very muted. Still some nice trees here and there, but nothing like last year. Kind of a surprise too because it was supposed to be a spectacular foliage season due to the fact that we got plenty of rain in summer. Strange that last season was better after the summer drought.

  15. Now will they self learn from this? If so…that necessarily isn’t a bad thing that they failed.
  16. A bit west would have more ridging into AK which would help us with cold air
  17. You're right, we shouldn't discuss this in here, it's the wrong place
  18. Euro seasonal has it a bit west allowing a decent trough to develop in the SE. The link below is for NDJ. It holds through the rest of the winter too if you scroll forward. https://charts.ecmwf.int/products/seasonal_system5_standard_z500?area=NHEM&base_time=202610010000&stats=ensm&valid_time=202611010000

  24. For those on Team Snow while rare we have had significant snowstorms as early as October. Below are our top such snowstorms. The biggest one occurred just 15 years ago back in 2011. On the website https://chescowx.com/top-snowfalls-by-month/ you do this for all months and even drill down into each storm to see the individual amounts across the area.
