I'm a big "christmas season starts november 1st" guy, but it's hard to get into the mood when it's almost 20 degrees above normal :sun:

Hi fellow Christmas lover! Im the same. Got tye Halloween/Fall decor down now bringing up the Christmas tubs.

I actually would rather have milder weather to start November to finish raking, winterizing, decorating because often times it bodes well for cold/snow near Thanksgiving. No guarantees of course. My mind is ready for snow, but i know hiw November weather patterns work.

Yeah, i'll never complain about 60s/70s and sunny, any time of the year. didn't think I'd get that up here, though, in november

A wet week with a gradual cooldown.  In most years winter sets in quick in the north come November.  Mother nature has different ideas this year.

Does that mean only 20inches of snow on your roof in March instead of 100(or however much is in those crazy pics that make me envious you post)  lol? Hope not. I know down here I'm not looking forward to this winter. While snow is not out of the question a "Vancouver" style winter seems to be in the works with miserable drizzle and 35-40 degrees. I swear, winter weather like that is colder than snow and 10 degrees. Good luck to you up there and looking forward to some snow pics. We may need them down here lol.

Was going to do some leaf mulching this morning, but we're getting some mysterious wind-blown drizzle well out ahead of the storm system.

Precip tomorrow looks pretty showery, so good chance many local areas get bypassed by decent rainfall.

This is exactly why when it comes to winter, I'd rather it just be boring than WAW. I think this is what separates the real real heads from semi-posers. Any other time of the year, sure, break the monotony up. But rain at slightly above freezing is downright the most dogshit ass weather you can get imo. I'll gladly layer up and go strolling in arctic conditions, but what the fuck are you gonna do outside in 33 and rain? And frankly, light rain from a cloud deck one physically cannot discern is incredibly dull in my eyes, so all that's left for me personally is to get tilted over the fact that it's snowing instead of raining. I guess approaching/departing systems make for cool sunsets at least...

you've been a good sport but i know the positive anomalies will start stinging more before long here

Keep in mind a few things. My expectations are set for a mild winter. The last 2 were cold and a raging nino is in place. Its gonna be mild. My hopes are on a few good snowstorms as often are the case in Nino. Thinking we see about a 30 inch winter here.

More importantly, this is my FAVORITE time of the year. I obviously prefer snow but no weather ruins the Christmas season for me (and yes lm one of those where Christmas runs November thru mid January lol).

January and beyond is when my patience wears thin and I get very grumpy if its not snowing.

You will absolutely get snow. Just less of it than normal. And a massive OVER for 20" of snow on bos roof in March.

You can still hit up forest preserve trails for a walk or trek during the rain. I’ve done it a bunch during the winter/spring on those miserable <40 degree and rain/misty days.

I’ve found the heavily forested areas even without leaves can shelter you from the raindrops a solid amount.
Evergreens are your best friend year-round! If you ever need a spot to shake off some water on you or need a quick spot to dry off! Also nothing quite beats that lovely fresh rain smell you get inside of a forest preserve!

Waterproof boots and a solid rain jacket are a must tho. Coupled with a thermos full of a hot liquid and you can enjoy yourself for an hour or two.  After a while you just get used to the wetness and become a kid again out in nature.

Preparation is key though. I walk dogs as a job throughout the year in all conditions rain snow or shine. I’ve learned over the years that  eating a big meal beforehand really helps me stay warmer when I’m outside with the dogs.
