The hook shape near Burlington plus the difference in velocities by Burlington. The velocities are inbound/outbound from the radar. (It can't see cross-wise wind). In this case, a somewhat small difference of like 30mph may be an indicator of a tornado, which of course has much stronger winds.

The storm near Gastonia apparently decided to alter its course and build almost due east towards CLT. temp down to 81. No precip and building thunder.

Absolutely dumping rain here in Brier creek. Lightning has been very impressive.  I think a street light got struck as there was a bright flash driving home near Wake Med hospital in BC.  Flash Flood warnings in effect here as well  .57" so far this evening.
