 There still hasn’t been so far this summer a 100 F high at either Columbia or Augusta. Considering how hot this summer has been and with them often being two of the hottest for highs, that’s kind of surprising even though they’ve been plenty hot with 11-12 days in the upper 90s.

Picked up 0.03” from a brief but heavy shower this morning and yes, you can slice the air with a knife today. It is that thick

We got maybe 34 rain drops last night around 9-930pm but man helluva light show from all the lightning and was windy. Everything just missed us not by much. 

Total rainfall yesterday was .03" here

Outflow probably killed our chances rest of day but 0.17” brings the MTD to 6.57”

A disappointing haul this weekend: 0.07" last night and 0.13" today.  RAH AFD is bullish on activity overnight, and radar is blossoming around Charlotte area, but mostly looks like a threat to the sandhills.

Storms all around us but very little rain. Ended with just .05". Temp soared up to 97/83 for a feels like of 124 at around 1 pm then the storms came. Clouds and outflow cooled us to the low 80's.

Not enough shear so if it isn't on top of you it won't make it.

I think the key here is Wake/Durham/franklin counties probably had the wettest month after being left out on everything rest of the year. Does alter one’s perception when you’re under repeated rains vs someone a county or less away not seeing them

It's true and also Raleigh's drought was probably the most anomalous in the state before recent rains. 1986 was the lowest rainfall year through this date for both GSO and RAH. But for RAH that total was 14.13, while GSO managed only 8.6" YTD in 1986. So while GSO is running ~3" behind RAH YTD this year, we are actually running ahead of the 1986 record by a wider margin (wetter than), when compared with RAH which would catch 1986 with one good dry spell
