 Please post July ‘26 obs from your area as well as current wx events/obs in July for other areas. It’s going to be quite hot with some records possibly being threatened especially in NC during the first part of the month.

NYC hit 104 yesterday at both LGA and Central Park

Been in the upper 90's the last 3 days, with high dews. Reel feels 115-120. This is the most humid month i have seen the last 3 years I have lived here. Its usually not prolonged like this in my area. More of the same the next couple weeks.

 Whereas La Guardia did hit 104 and Newark hit 105, the official Central Park high actually was “only” 100.

 Indeed! I’m not at all trying to minimize the heatwave in the NYC area. There has been some talk about Central Park running a couple of degrees cooler for highs than in the past due to increased foliage (showing the cooling power of foliage). Even so, 100F with increased foliage is obviously still very intense. Also, C Park had a low of only a ridiculous 82 yesterday!

 At C Park, the lowest so far today is 84. IF that were to hold up through 11:59PM, it would tie the all time highest low there, which goes way back to 1869!

Yep I read the tweet wrong, thought it said 104 at both sites. But this is incredible heat for New England. It’s hot here but dare I say we’re used to it now?

My wife is in the city and just walking twen blocks, she was soaked with sweat. ITs pretty gross as I Can recall living up there and summers were brutal. No relief whatsoever.   For her to compain about the heat as she loves it, you knows its bad lol

It appears to different high temps at Mt Mitchell yesterday.  Never really gave much thought until now----- but the 75 F (NWS local data from Greer) from the MOUNT MITCHELL, NC site and 78.4 F from Mount Mitchell State Park (operated in cooperation NCDEQ and NC Climate Office).  As best I can tell, they are both at the same location, but slightly different official elevations and also LAT/Longs.  One is 1902 meters and the other is 1894.  Does anyone know why the differences?  The elevations could be a reporting error on one but was wondering if two instrument locations or just co-located?  Just a little surprised by the temp differences----maybe just me?
