So here we are. June 1st and the start of meteorological summer. Will the rollercoaster ride continue, or will we finally sustain normal to above normal temps with good thunderstorm chances?

judging by the 45 degrees this morning, maybe this will be the summer that wasn't. I remember we had a summer that wasn't back in the mid '80's , I can't remember the year though.

I can't either, but we had a rather cool and wet summer a few years back, too, if I remember correctly. Just can't think of exactly what year it was, though.

Heat and big humidity kick in this weekend, it seems.

Also a very, very dry pattern ahead.

But...

After the warmup, we don't sustain summer. My forecast for next Monday right now is back down to 70 again.

I think it's been pretty established by now that the summer will be back-ended and July and August should be warmer. Still beats 50s and 60s.

Also looks like a potentially tropical system will be in the area on Monday. If it stays to the south, it may get warmer just by virtue of the sun being closer.

Monday's high will probably bounce all over the place the next few days. Last night it showed 70, this morning, it's 77.

Monday
A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 77. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

SPRING 2026 | March+April+May |
Driven by unusually warm temps in March & April, the 2026 spring season was one of the warmest in CPA

Huh, imagine that. Unusually warm temps.

And before anyone replies with comments about May's weather, there was plenty of complaining about how cold it was in April.

It really wasn't.

Facts always > feelings....

Hope yall are enjoying the beautiful stretch of early summer.  Hard not to enjoy what the last few days have given us.

My complaints weren't so much about the cool downs, but how cold they actually got. If they would have been a little less extreme, I wouldn't have minded

We're always going to warm and cool as fronts and systems move through the area.

Of note here in the philly burbs of Chester County PA Spring of 2026 was the 14th warmest Spring since 1893 - conversely Winter 2025-26 was our 14th coldest! Our weather does have a way of balancing out! Below is our Spring Temperature trends since 1893....only some slight warming is shown.
