Central PA Summer 2026 Discussion/Obs Thread

So here we are. June 1st and the start of meteorological summer. Will the rollercoaster ride continue, or will we finally sustain normal to above normal temps with good thunderstorm chances?

judging by the 45 degrees this morning, maybe this will be the summer that wasn't. I remember we had a summer that wasn't back in the mid '80's , I can't remember the year though.

I can't either, but we had a rather cool and wet summer a few years back, too, if I remember correctly. Just can't think of exactly what year it was, though.

Heat and big humidity kick in this weekend, it seems.

But...

After the warmup, we don't sustain summer. My forecast for next Monday right now is back down to 70 again.

I think it's been pretty established by now that the summer will be back-ended and July and August should be warmer. Still beats 50s and 60s.

 

Also looks like a potentially tropical system will be in the area on Monday. If it stays to the south, it may get warmer just by virtue of the sun being closer.
