Suprised all is quite here after last nights severe thunderstorms.  35,000 people in Dutchess had no power last night.  We have been on generator power since 3 am.  Trees down everywhere, hail, lightnight and 70 to 80 MPH winds ripped everything up that wasnt tied down. CoCoRaHS measured 1.60 inches of rain near me but i would say it was twice that amount.  I havent seen a storm like this in many years.

Thankfully I missed the worst of that crap, no FOMO from me. Had some brief gusty winds and .13” thru the tipper. Hopefully your power comes back sooner rather than later.

I had .3 and very little wind. I mean, it rained hard for a minute or three but people never stopped their fireworks. After the heavy stuff it got foggy and they went nutz. The big sparkly stuff is kinda cool thru the fog.

I was over in Wappengers yesterday when it came thru. Winds around 40 not sure how much rain fell, guessing on the person’s pool I’d say 1.5 to 2.0” in an hour. Seen several limbs down but no power outages, on my way bay to the west side of the Hudson. IMBY had only 0.05” in the bucket with no noticeable wind damage. Sorry to hear about your loss of power. Hopefully back on by now.

Some of the Mesoscale models are rather bullish on QPF amounts thru Tuesday, some showing around 9”.

It will be a dependent on where these cells set up shop and just dump.

I was at 2.00 inches at 7am since yesterday. Lawn is actually green again all around. Nice to see in July for a change. Now if I could only keep it green through August.

Otisville meso station recorded 8.09” for the past 24hr. Closest station to me in Sullivan south recorded 2.81”, north 0.62”. My totals are probably closer to 2-3”. Probably like the third or fourth time in the past half a dozen years I just barely avoid a substantial rainfall event to the north. 
 

edit: Otisville meso station is 25 miles from Eldred meso. It was close.

Extremely localized.. that otisville site is legit 2 or so miles from me and I’m at 6.12”

Power came back around Noon, it’s been out since the 4th. I have a full house generator so it wasn’t an issue. Just had no internet and couldn’t even make a phone call or send a text but that came back as well.

It absolutely poured for a few hours and some local stations barely rose, it ranges from as low as 3.5 to the more common 4.2>4.6. I know my rain gauge got fukt when a branch landed on it at ~1:30, but it was over 3.5 and it's rained hard since. 4.5 at the mesonet site a few miles SW.

There are vines and assorted invasives in my yard that look like they've already started. It's like a green wall across the back which isn't the worst thing, we don't really like the neighbors

Good morning GL! Not sure if ‘Day Of The Triffids’ seed kits are still on the market … it’s a thought if ‘neighbor control’ becomes a necessity. Stay well, as always …..
