Since Jan 1st Detroit has only seen 1.77" precip (and 21.4" snow). Its much better than QC but its shockingly below avg for a La Nina. Fortunately its been nearly all snow except for a few meager lgt rain spurts.

that's like saying if marquette didn't have les snow, they'd have as much snow seasonal snow as la crosse.

Yeah but it seems Chicago has benefitted more from LES events than normal this winter for being on the wrong side of the lake. I don't have statistics for it though.

It seemed that way to me too. And I don't even pay close attention. Seems like during several of our synoptic snowfalls here Chicago backed in with LES.

It would be hard to pull any long term statistics regarding that.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll check to see how much of the seasonal snow thus far this season was pure LES.

I thought this is an every year thing when it's late season? Like a modeled SSW that leads to the polar vortex shrinking and going poof because of the season.
