11-9/11-10 Early Season Snow Obs.

It started snowing yesterday evening, and I had around 1/2 inch overnight. Currently light snow and 28. Waiting on the slug of moisture with the S/W in Kentucky to rotate through this afternoon.

Flew my drone over Cumberland Cove this morning between Monterey and Crossville. Still some good fall colors surprisingly, mixed in with the snow.

We are currently in a lull, and the sun was trying to peek out at times. 23 degrees.

Big time snow shower creeping south but it may miss me to the East. Saw a video from around Jellico, it's essentially a white out and I-75 is covered. Someone said that vis was down to 200 feet in it.

Impressive looking radar returns, usually strike out on these events. This one must be built different

The Euro took the GFS to school on this particular event. The GFS even this morning has had trouble seeing this.

Haha.  I am tickled that we have a snow thread on November 10th.  @fountainguy97that 2014-2015 went on to be really, really good.  You and John caught this synoptic setup early on.  Generally, this is a money setup for NW flow w/ the shortwave.  

The Euro absolutely nailed this from way out.....I agree, @John1122.  Fun to be tracking a system so early.

About 1/2 inch here in downtown Erwin.  It's melting from below, but when you get under one of these it's pretty fun.  Snowglobe on steroids.

Can honestly say this has been an almost all day light to moderate snow event here in Erwin.  At times, really steady across parts of town.

Will be interesting to see how much instability, plus the lift, can enhance these bands later this afternoon/evening

CAMs definitely didn't pick up what has moved thru so far too well (they have been focused on more toward sunset)

It's whiteout, sun, whiteout here. Temp will be 29 when it's sunny, and drop into the 24-25 range when it's snowing.

Yes, I wasn't expecting much activity until 3pm and beyond. MRX had to move the WWA up by a couple hours.

Same here. Some of the most intense snow in years, immediately followed by bright sunshine. Then repeat.

It's definitely a day where if this was truly cold ground or if the snow came over for an hour instead of 20 minute bursts over 3 hours, we'd probably get 3 or 4 inches.
