I was in college and had a part time job at a supermarket. The night Gloria hit, I had the 6 to midnight shift. I had to round up all the shopping carts, so I made a “raincoat” out of a Hefty trash bag. Drove back to school with branches coming down. Next day we played a mud football game against the girls. 1

I remember hoping they would let us off work early but alas. NYC got bullseyed. What is notable is where the heaviest bands of rain within our CWA set up (more to the north and west of Philly metro) - But the winds along the coast were fierce! As an obs, it's currently overcast and 77 with dp 65. Am looking at the doppler with rain to our south. Need some of that up here!

The next door neighbor was a junior in high school, and the running back of the other team. No one was able to stop either of them that day. My sister's team ended up winning. Who won your game? (Oh, and I bet you if Drought Guy was around when Gloria was happening, he'd be talking about how a drought was around the corner...)

Let’s face it, if I had the ball and a bunch of girls were chasing me with the objective of tackling me and rolling around in the mud…yeah, I’m not going to try my best to avoid that outcome. I was down in Memphis Tn at the time. I had other hurricanes to deal with down there at the time Elena but more importantly, Memphis had over a foot of snow in one storm in the winter of 85 . That would be like a 3 ft snow here.

All of the cold and pretty much most of the snow was confined to month (January). December was really warm. Come to think of it, 2021-22 was a warmer, modern version of 1984-85. ChescoWx Posted yesterday at 09:32 AM Share Posted yesterday at 09:32 AM Today will be our warmest day of the week along with some relatively high humidity for late September. Today’s highs will be in the upper 70's in the higher spots to lower 80's in valley locations. A couple of degrees cooler tomorrow followed by our chilliest weather so far this autumn season with highs by mid-week remaining in the 60's and morning lows well down into the 40's with even some 30's possible for our colder valley locations. We look dry through the entire week.

JTA66 Posted yesterday at 11:29 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:29 AM I remember what must have been a Miller B bust in 1985. Went to bed under a Winter Storm Warning and woke up to filtered sun through cirrus clouds.

ChescoWx
Yesterday’s high temperature of 79.1 degrees in East Nantmeal (22 years of data) set a new daily record for the date the old high temperature record was 77.9 in 2019. While it was unseasonably warm yesterday…it was still much cooler that the overall county record for the date which was 90 degrees set back in 1945 in Phoenixville. Today and tomorrow will continue the unseasonably warm temperatures with highs both days well into the 70’s to near 80 in some of our valley locations. Our normal high temperatures here in Chester County for late September are in the low 70’s. We turn sharply cooler tomorrow night with lows by Wednesday morning in the upper 40’s to near 50 degrees. Thursday and Friday will be sunny but unseasonably chilly with highs in the mid 60’s and lows in the low to mid 40’s with even some 30’s across the valley spots. We slowly warm back up to normal temperatures by the weekend. Unfortunately, no rain chances this entire week.
LVblizzard
These dry periods are aligning nicely with my job as a college tennis ref. It always sucks to move a match or tournament indoors since that often means much longer days. I do really hope we get some good rain in the coming weeks though. We just really need a 3-4 day period of steady light rain. Feels like we haven’t had that in forever.
