Central PA Summer 2025

Last night reminded me just how glorious it was from 8/19/07 through 8/22/07. 4 days where the temperature stayed between 58 and 68 degrees day and night. The middle two days saw highs of 64 and 62. Stiff east wind and 2.50" of rain spread out over those 4 days. Between rain batches a glorious 25mph wind with drizzle. That 4 days stretch would not be equaled until that October.

Another bout of humidity to return?

As I have said, we are now in a new pattern for the next week or so. Dew point values will stay largely in the 40s to 50s, marking quite a change after we have been stuck in the 70s for much of July. Our humidity will being to creep up by the middle to end of next week, with widespread 65+ dew points possibly returning into the mid-60s, and possibly into the 70s after this time period. Stay tuned for updates! #PAwx #Summer #Humidity #August #Pennsylvania

@MUweather
Due primarily to oppressively warm nights and a slew of days with highs between 89-95F, #July2025 concluded as the 2nd-hottest on record @millersvilleu since 1914. It was also the 10th-wettest on record thanks to a seemingly endless onslaught of slow-moving, drenching T-storms.

Going to be a recurring theme in our new high humidity climate.

We finished July with an average temperature of 75.6 here in East Nantmeal this is the 5th warmest in my 22 years at this location. The warmest being back in 2011 at 77.0 degrees. After yesterday's 2.35" of rain we finished the month with 8.86" of rain this was the 3rd wettest July with the most occurring back in 2018 when we recorded 9.54" of rain. We have turned cooler after the frontal passage yesterday and today will be at least 10 degrees below normal for the first day of August. The next week will feature below normal temperatures with the exception of both Monday and Tuesday, which should be about normal for the 1st week of August. Nighttime lows will reach the 50's on each of the next 3 nights.

65 was the low, never got rain yesterday. Get a new roof Monday so glad the temps will be tolerable for them.

Two jobs I couldn't imagine doing on a hot, humid day. Roofing and asphalt paving. Both have got to be brutal.

Even when I was little, I marveled at roofers in Texas. Granted, you'd hire them at the Lowes at 5 am and they'd be done by noon but still. That's a young man's job for sure.

July was my 3rd wettest month ever with 11.51".  My YTD is now 39.03" -- only 8.57" of which fell in Jan thru Apr.  Each of my last three months have been over 9", amazing.

For MDT, it was "only" the 8th warmest and 21st wettest July on record with 6.15".

26 miles and 18" of rain difference still boggles my mind. @canderson garden watering as commenced, grass will probably follow next week sometime

As you’d imagine, complete opposite here. I weeded earlier and everything pulled right up.
I thought you might enjoy this. I focused it for Mt Joy. It's the precipitation recurrence interval for different time periods. Screenshot_20250801_224357_Chrome.jpg

I can’t get enough of this chart. The values look about what I’d expect them to look like and align pretty well with my own observations. Thanks for sharing!
