Maggie Valley Steve
I had a nice half hour shower today, but no thunder. Tomorrow looks similar. Tuesday we should get a front drifting in from the NW. Not sure how much progress it makes, but hopefully some drier air arrives for the Forth of July Fireworks across the area!

Maggie Valley Steve
I am heartbroken for the folks back in the Texas Hill Country. I grew up visiting many of these areas in my early years into late teens. Loss of life from flooding is imprinted in our minds and burned into our hearts here in Western NC from Helene. So many young kids is almost too difficult to fathom from Hunt TX area.

Especially with the timing of the flash flood.

Met1985
Great stuff from Hunter. I am becoming increasingly concerned about isolated flash flooding around portions of the Asheville and WNC area this afternoon as storms roll through. Some locations won’t see any rainfall and other locations could get over 2” of precipitation before sunset. It will certainly be hit or miss, but where storms do develop, heavy amounts of rain will fall. Have a plan in place. Your stream or river might not rise, but it’s always good to think over your game plan for flooding. Below is the most recent HRRR projected precipitation through this evening. Ponding on roadways could make the afternoon commute slow, please be patient and do not drive through flooded roadways. Hopefully this model is overdone, but 2” of rainfall quickly is a cause for concern so proceed with caution this afternoon! Another round of rain is expected tomorrow afternoon so please keep your guard up! Check the live cams as AshevilleWX.com to see what’s going on around the area.

Maggie Valley Steve
I finally got a tenth of an inch of rain today. It's starting to get mighty dry around the Valley. Hopefully we'll see more chances the next several days.

WxKnurd
Well the rain break was nice while it lasted (even though that map above says it’s been slightly below normal here but I can tell you it has not lol), heavy rain ever since I got home and probably even before that. In other news, I’ve accepted a position in Billings, Montana so I will no longer be a resident mountain member for the time being come August but as of now planning to keep my house here and hopefully rent it out so I’ve got some place to come back to in the future.
