Bumping this thread to ask if anyone on the forum is at all interested in steam trains. If so, I'll post some really cool information!

I'm not sure if you're familiar with Autism and trains.  lol you have to forgive my messy basement but I might like trains just a little bit . I got just a few on my walls. Some of my nicer steam engines are back on the left corner, I also probably have over a hundred  diesels and steam engines that still need restored packed away in my crawl space. I immensely appreciate both real and toy trains and think they are the most beautiful and interesting marvels of engineering humanity will ever create. 20260407_173234.jpg.df6db8b57b60628db95bc04b682bda31.jpg

It's funny that you mentioned this.

For years I have wanted to paint and mechanically restore a custom passenger diesel and cars, specifically dedicated do everyone on our thread. I'm going to  start that project this fall and you guys are going to love it when it's done. The cpa weather express is coming this winter.

I've been a train fan since I was a kid. One of my dreams was to have a basement model railroad, but so far it hasn't happened.

So, this summer our local Reading and Northern Railroad will be hosting the massive Union Pacific Big Boy steam engine as it makes its way from Scranton to Philly.

A special excursion will run behind the Big Boy from Nesquehoning to Pittston. Meanwhile our own stream engine (the 2102) will also be running in conjunction with it. After that, it appears that the Big Boy will run the rest of the Reading and Northern trackage to Reading and then eventually Philly. If it does this, it'll pass through Tamaqua along the way.

It's going to be one hell of a railroad and steam event.

I don't think there's probably any better time for you to start that project than now. I had a very nice platform for years, but I took it down so that  I could have room to start building custom fishing rods. I've been trying to devise a way that I can set my platform back up and also have room for building rods. If it's something then you decide to get started  on (depending on gauge)  I have no shortage of extra track, model coal and foliage that I could pack up and send to a p o box. The tracks have built up a little bit of surface corrosion over the years  so they would need some cleaning before they can conduct properly.

For anyone who doesn't know, this articulated 4-8-8-4 is not just the god of all steam engine, but it's the god of all mechanical creations, and everyone, and everything should be bowing to it except for god himself.

I suspect PSU/Steelers folk among us are going to find out over the next few months that neither James Franklin nor Mike Tomlin was the problem.

JF was a problem.

Yes was an ugly loss. All PSU fans should have tempered their expectations for year 1

Welp, the Matt Campbell era good vibes didn’t last the first taste of big 10 play :arrowhead::axe:

14 points in the 4th quarter. The ncaa ravens…

They might give up 500 yards just in rushing yards tonight.

I can't believe what I'm watching.

403

I didn’t think Campbell would be a good but I didn’t expect the defense to be that atrocious. His main guys retired instead of following him though and they were the straws that stirred ISU.

Hope they get better fast for all the great, loyal fans like you.

I probably respect your thoughts, ideas and opinions on winter weather patterns more than just about anyone on the entire forum. Please consider coming back in here and sharing that. But leave this for the dedicated thread.

Thanks.  I think everyone who only views the forum on their phones doesn't get why I took issue.  He has a HUGE signature ranting about climate change which you have to see every time he makes a post, and then complains when someone responds to it with the passive aggressive "we're not supposed to talk about that here" BS.  This is also a tactic not confined to this specific case.  I've brought this up before and taken issue with it.  That side of the argument is deploying a passive aggressive and very deliberate tactic taking advantage of our forum rules about politics.  They find a way to say what they want to say, push it as far as it can go. blur the lines... then when you respond back directly they deploy the "were not supposed to talk about it" and the whole conversation gets shut down.  They got to make their point and then the discourse is over.  If the mods what to have a no climate change discussion rule I am all for it, but then any reference at all to climate denial (including in a signature) should be deleted immediately.  The members who continue to try to circumvent or be cute with these rules should get warned and eventually banned the same way I would get banned if I continue to respond to them.

This isn't just an Americanwx issue...I've observed this same exact tactic from the same political ideology across the internet in other online communities.
