crossbowftw3
Seven years ago today, the derecho that blew through sheared the porch off the house at my old place. Still probably one of the scariest days of my life but the one that re-ignited my weather interests Back to today, 5.30" for the month and more rain incoming the next few days.

The top of one of my maples got ripped off and clipped the corner of the house causing roof damage and taking out a window. I wasn’t home when it happened but will never forget driving through downed trees and branches and having to walk to get to my house only to find it damaged. Not fun. The cell that went through my area eventually had a confirmed tornado just miles to my east. That day did the opposite for me, I dislike severe weather now. Nor’easters were always the driving force behind my weather interests anyway.
Hitman
and we're finally officially out of drought. Now listed as "abnormally dry" which is still ridiculous but less egregious.

I had to replace the roof and my balcony.

And as insult to injury from that week, the moment I (and the town) got power back that Friday night, the furniture store in town went up in flames and burned down It’s become something else since— what was a bank on that stretch of town road is now a brewery for instance

Stay well, as always ….
Juliancolton
I started to a little nervous about the gardens overnight, ended up with a low of 42/34. Not far from patchy frost territory

Not far from patchy frost territory you must have been near freezing on this date in 2002, ironic after a huge historic heatwave in April that year and the nicely hot and dry summer to follow. gravitylover
Speaking of gardens, everything is starting sooo slow. I dunno, maybe I'm just impatient but... I want fresh veggies!

We are nearing peak solar insulation which is what causes the best growth.
gravitylover
Yeah the couple of sunny days were pretty good. If the new growth doesn't drown, on the next 75° day you'll probably be able to see stuff growing!

gravitylover
Anyone have a good sense of the weather in the Adirondacks this weekend? I'm supposed to have a booth at a mtb festival but the idea of a 58° rainy, windy day hanging out in a wet field 10 miles out of Saranac Lake doesn't sound like much fun.
