overcautionisbad
Look at the GFS standing firm like a stonewall! Bring on the 7 inches. Hey and Zach Daniel at WTVR sticks with 4-8. I do believe he is including sleet

I was jealous for a good while since we moved 3 months ago down here. Starting to look like maybe even 2 inches is a stretch followed by a buttload of ice. I guess it really cannot snow huge amounts there anymore... I was telling my mom to stock up on a bunch of stuff earlier this week, now I'm glad I did for the ice that will happen but dang... 3-6"-Then hopefully more sleet than frz rain. Super cold too. Conway7305
Does Kuchea include sleet. I thought it removed it.

overcautionisbad
Probably looking at 4.5 is my guess right now. Hard to say. If changeover is later or sooner all models could be wrong. That could change a lot of stuff. I mean I can see one inch or 8 at this point. Lol 0z Euro was worse for Richmond vs 18z. Shame. Honestly, best scenario might be the NAM sleet over ice
Rvarookie
4-6 with the cold air and coming over night. Sprinkle in some sleet and ice to mash it down

ldub23
NWS mentions snow Wednesday Night A chance of snow after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Thursday A chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 32. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
SoCoWx
The NWS ticked down the ice totals for Richmond, down to a range of .25”—.50”.That’s not for nothing, and could be the difference between a few days of recovery in the city and a week.Hoping that’s a trend that continues now that we’re basically in nowcasting mode..
CavalierHoo
Radar sure does look like the snow may be ahead of schedule in SW Va. Maybe just virga but it has a promising look.

Can’t tell if it’s slowly drifting north or just sliding east.
overcautionisbad
Dude, it's cold out there. Like 21. I just can't imagije anything other than snow can fall at such temps. 33 years of life here. The thing I can't get past is the snow falling at night. That's the thing that makes me question a changeover at like 3 or 4 am. A computer tells you it will rain while temps are 25. Are you going to believe it? I don't. I would have to see it with my own eyes. Until then I assume there has been a flaw or error. That's my gut here. mikeeng92
Models look to be targeting the east end of the metro for the worst of the ice. That is .50-.75" of FRAM accretion in the blue. Matches up with other models.

It’s why most are so wrong & the computer is right. Again, it’s what is going on aloft… (not just the temperature at the surface) Cold air damming (between the mountains & our area is what we want to rout for.. The longer that happens the less chance we have in getting the freezing rain & having the warm air rush in more and cause freezing rain… sleet is 100% certain in this area… How long we have that (just sleet) is the million $ question…
