Ralph Wiggum
The Euro had it too. Starting to see a little more agreement between the GFS and Euro. Nice to see at this range. Lots of fine tuning to do still but a great start imo.

I wouldn't pay attention to the snow maps. QPF is 1.25" plus for all. Simple 10:1 is over a foot for all.

Simple 10:1 is over a foot for all. spread out over a long time...we're basically snowing at 1/4-1/2" per hour most of the time, not really going to accumulate during the day. compacted snow totals would probably be around 6" even with the high qpf in the city
swamplover56
spread out over a long time...we're basically snowing at 1/4-1/2" per hour most of the time, not really going to accumulate during the day. compacted snow totals would probably be around 6" even with the high qpf in the city Temps are slightly colder than marginal and 850's are plenty cold. Also we are going into the potential storm with very cold temps preceding it and very cold ground. Don't think we have trouble accumulating as long as precip is steady or moderate. GiantBlizzard2003
spread out over a long time...we're basically snowing at 1/4-1/2" per hour most of the time, not really going to accumulate during the day. compacted snow totals would probably be around 6" even with the high qpf in the city I doubt this...some of the snow maps are showing up to 20" in NNJ and you think it will be 6". If this was to verify good luck with that prediction.
Rjay
Agree 100%. Sun angle is too strong now. Maybe during daylight hours with light snow falling but anything moderate should stick and any snow falling when the sun is down should stick. Remember the ground is cold. NaoPos
not sure why im'm getting into this sticking vs non sticking debacle.. but with that 1035 HPand mid-low 20;s surface temps... it'll stick, light or not.. that's a HUGE gamble to rely on this far out. CooL
Agree 100%. Sun angle is too strong now. lol what does this even mean, you have no idea what you're talking about we have an arctic airmass and tons of precip.
swamplover56
Arguing sun angle on March 3rd is crazy. We have had accumulating snow many many times during the day even in NYC and L.I. late into March and even April if this one run of the GFS were to verify I don't see any problem with accumulations. SnoSki14
It'll stick with temps in the 20s unless it's very light, the ground will be below freezing, and March 3rd isn't that late yet.
