I guess some believed we would see more sun, I even saw a post mentioning the possibility that some spots could achieve a heat wave, which I thought was highly unlikely.

If any place could hit 90 today, a heatwave is not out of the question.  With tomorrow 90s very likely and thursday a high launching pad, it possible.  Never say never in the weather.  Many called for no more 90s both in Auust and Sep (last week).  Some proclaimed no temps higher than the low 80s.

I'm curious as to why we'd see any 90s today? I can't find any high temp forecasts over 86-87 even in the warm spots of central NJ.

850mb temperatures are quite warm, and given enough mixing, the warm spots like New Brunswick and Newark have a shot at 90 degrees.

Already 85 in New Brunswick. Probably two more hours of mixing to go.

A couple of very warm or hot days in September is not very unusual ...lol

I don't know who said no 90's but in late July I posted that thought it would struggle to hit 90 the rest of the way with very few 90's. Some spots haven't even hit 90 since July, and few spots have 1 or 2 90's with the most at 3 so far.

Some were calling for widespread 90 plus several times during the past several weeks which of course never panned out.

Most if not all spots will not hit 90 today, but different story tomorrow . Thursday will likely fall short for most.

The real story is 90s tomorrow to 30's and 40's by Sunday am.

While our 83 highs should be out of reach tomorrow, places like Newark

could make a run on the mid 90's.
