This event just goes to show what a strong storm system can do at night. Two years ago my town got hit by an F-4 at midnight and that was with a 998 mb low. Right now we've got two 994 mb centers with an extremely amplified jet. That just spells terrible news and we're seeing the consequences.

Btw I think 118 reports of tornadoes should quiet those talking bust

Agreed, strong tornadoes can definitely still happen at night in the plains, not just the SE states. Just have to go back to the Barneveld F5 in 1984 which struck at 1am as one example.

There's still an 81 kt couplet on the Salina cell, just north of Verdi right now. It's now too well defined, but it makes me nervous with only a SVR out. Just a few frames ago it looked like the tornadic potential in that cell was dead.

Gone again. Might've been a quick spin-up. Overall the cell is on a weakening trend though, so I'm not too worried about it.

SPOTTERS WERE TRACKING A LARGE AND DANGEROUS TORNADO MOVING INTO

WOODWARD. THIS TORNADO LOCATED NEAR WOODWARD...MOVING NORTHEAST AT

55 MPH.
