I might go ice climbing in the 'dacks Saturday, not sure yet. I will definitely try to stop by if I stay local, 50/50. I need to be home Sat night to go to a party with my wifey. The road trip might be tough to pull off due to the time constraints.

Logan11
I'm sure you can find really high favored spots in VT and the Dacks with several inches, but the reality is that the St. Lawrence Seaway is the demarcation. Gotta go north of it to find enough natural snow for winter recreation. If this junk persists for two more weeks with no end in sight I'm going to Quebec to x country ski/ snow shoe for a few days. I might go anyway....endless trails in the wilderness and the occasional wolf howl. Whats the dealio, is there any snow on the ground in Becket? Logan11
Yeah 1/4 inch patches where it blew last night. A couple half inch drifts along the driveway. LOL They may get some decent LES to my west/nw next week so maybe I can have a lesser drive to see snow. Maybe it will throw me a couple inches if I'm lucky. Happy New Year to you also! Cross country skiing is good, downhill skiing is good, ice climbing in the Notch, snow shoeing, etc. Stowe's 6-mile long rec path is groomed out for sweet cross country skiing. I skied to the store the other day. You do not have to go high at all in this area to find snow on the ground. J.Spin probably has a near 10" on the ground at 495ft along with all the other Burlington suburbs along the western slope (Underhill, Jericho, Richmond, Jonesville, Waterbury, Huntington, Hinesburg, etc). East of the Greens in Warren, Waitsfield, Stowe, etc at 700-1,500ft there's a solid snow cover of 7-9", with the bottom 4-5" rock hard. That's a common misconception that you need to be really high up in this area to find snow.
