Rocket Launch (it was about 10% further north than I expect...so I had to adjust....TWICE). (from 131 miles, measured).

I did my homework, and even been out to Wallops. I still messed up. So don't feel bad Ian.

Rockets this large go maybe once or twice a year. One thing to keep in mind is that they often get rescheduled. I spent two days driving back and fourth a while back to cover one of these launches. 4.5 hr drive each way and both days got canceled. Only thing I got is some NASA media points (it's not called that) and some storm pictures I got on the way out the second day.

Ian...next attempt I try to get to go out...I'll try to remember to give you a heads up, maybe we'll car pool together. Since your basically media too (via WP) you should be able to get media access no prob.

Pretty cool here in Columbia! Very vivid orange fire-ish ball while it was low on horizon. Saw the different stages go off and could see some stuff falling off of the rocket. Got up to a high point in the sky, hovered there for 30 seconds before disappearing. Very much worth the wait!

where did u watch from, I was up by the tennis center.
