  1. I remember there was a day maybe ten or twelve years ago that looked like a historic NE outbreak. I seem to recall the SPC had a 10 or 15% hatched tornado for us in the outlook. Shear was awesome, instability was sufficient, strong trigger....but we overlooked the lapse rates, which were awful. Lo and behold, whatever updrafts tried to go up were feeble and just got blown over by the shear. Brutal bust, so painful I can't even recall when that day was. Edit: found it. June 6, 2010. 80 kt jet, 60 kt bulk shear, raging llj, 45% hatched wind, 10% tornado. Epic epic bust.
  2. Candidate for reanalysis upgrade ex post facto at the very least.
  3. Lapse rates of like 5 degrees would probably work. Don't think the atmosphere will oblige us. Maybe the warm front gets hung up across NY and never makes it in here...
  4. Dude must have his eyelids surgically grafted open. Blink on that drive, and you dead.
  5. If we're going to anthropomorphize storms by giving them human names, use any gender pronoun you wish as far as I'm concerned.
  6. I can't get excited for severe until I know Wiz is trapped scoring a baseball game or something.
  7. They've actually closed the auto road during the pandemic (which has been great for me as a runner). You can still walk to the top, if you're so inclined. The view is superb.
  8. Jesus, look at that beast in Iowa! Can I sign up for something like that emerging off the Mid-Atlantic coast in January?
  9. I guarantee I won't remember this summer for anything except maybe Isaias. It was hot. Summer always seems hot.
  10. 70s and gorgeous breeze. What a day! Are we really thinking storms later? Doesn't feel like that kind of day to me.
  11. Yeah, I think you're right. Looking NW of New London in that shot.
  12. I've been on the water at Fishers all afternoon watching those cells blow up around Worcester. Beastly updrafts and beautiful anvils. Congrats, folks. Classic summer day.
  13. Lol this is almost the definition of first world problems.
  14. Sipping some Fiddlehead watching this beauty going up up the coast.
