  1. I measured 10 in Methuen at 7 AM. One thing I noticed was the snow was heavier than I expected it to be.
  2. How does your total compare to surrounding towns? I agree with you regarding the 24th-26th time period. I'd like to see the "warm" air get pinched south of SNE/So NH. I think it is possible because of the snowpack in the east. Pure speculation on my part...perhaps a situation where 2 waves form along the front. First wave is rain/mix....2nd wave is more snow/mix....perhaps the front sets up along the dividing line of the snowpack to the north and west and the "warmer" water to the south and east.
  3. When all is said and done there will likely be more than a foot in Methuen. NWS offices in several states are going to have some explaining to do. As will TV mets in the Boston area. The storm is going to be an interesting case study once all is said and done.
  4. It's an interesting concept. The model learns from itself and/or other models to learn what not to do or forecast.
  5. In a way that is how Alphazero taught itself to play chess.Alpha zero wasn't programmed to play chess but it learned how to play chess by playing games against itself.
  6. ........but that can easily be changed to teaching remotely from home
  7. Sort of like the build up leading to the Super Bowl...
  8. Snow days are likely gone for good in most school districts.
  9. The difference is people expected winter weather back then. Now people go into complete panic mode. School is cancelled even before a flake flies....well before the pandemic.
  10. Less shredded than the C's defense last night? lol
  11. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. Someone"melting" on 495 after learning Box has downgraded the forecast to 2-4 for the Merrimack Valley area......
  12. I completely agree with you. The hype for snowstorms is off the charts. People would lose their minds if a storm similar to the Blizzard of 78 or Superstorm 93 was about to hit the area. In general people are "softer" now days.
  13. Noyes easily has the highest forecasted snow totals. The past 2 days he's been consistently forecasting higher snow totals than the other on air Boston mets.
  14. I have not seen the Queens Gambit but it has gotten rave reviews. The show has sparked a resurgence in chess. Likely the largest resurgence since the days of Fisher. Check out Chess.com
  15. Agree, one of the best! I think he may be on a radio station in NH
