  1. Son just got back from there last week!!! Yes, he has a 'problem' with snow, maybe more than I do. lol
  2. When son decided almost 5 years ago that he wanted to move west to 'snow' the Bend OR area was one of the two on the list. He picked the Breckenridge CO area instead.
  3. Well, ONE of those will likely be right, lol.
  4. power has blinked 4 times in last 5 minutes, about time for the darkness to hit......
  5. 3.75 inches of liquid last 5 days, up to 6.32 for the month, already at 9.01 since first of the year here. New calendar year, same results......
  6. WHAT???!!! You don't believe that?
  7. Some of you may be shocked by this, but it is raining and wet out there!
  8. Are we about to watch the Reaper 'reap' himself?!?!
  9. And I need about 3-5" more than yours, so lets have MY scenario play out!
  10. IAD: 6.8 BWI: 5.9 DCA: 4.4 RIC: 1.8 IMY: 9.5 'Stick' number-17.0, that would get me to 50 for the year.
  11. Agree. Worse still is the Norfolk area. Although I have seen Williamsburg get pounded before, but that is rare. I have a step sister in Raleigh, she misses snow haha.
  12. I feel the same. I have an 'out', in that my son lives in Breck (well, actually Silverthorne) so I can go and show up any time I want. He WANTS me to move out there when I retire (3-5 years) and I am looking, but boy property is high out that way...... I visited 5 times last year for a total of 30 days lol.
  13. 12/5: 1.0 12/9: 0.5 12/10: 20.3 01/13: 4.4 01/14: 0.5 01/18: 1.2 02/17: 0.5 02/20: 4.1 02/21: 0.5 Total: 33.0
  14. Picked up 0.5 of sleet yesterday before the flip to freezing rain then rain. Rain was heavy for a couple hours. So that is 4.6 total snow/sleet for the storm and 1.79 liquid. Wet, wet, wet. Still have right at 3" of VERY sloppy snow/sleet/glop on the ground.
  15. This was a WET system! I had 0.78 of liquid at 7 am on 4.1 of snow. An insane 5.3 to 1. Course it snowed here for about an hour before it started sticking, so that skewed the numbers a bit. Today I picked up .5 of sleet and I changed gauges when the rain started....0.20 liquid, that is 2.5 to 1. Crazy!
  16. 12/5: 1.0 12/9: 0.5 12/10: 20.3 01/13: 4.4 01/14: 0.5 01/18: 1.2 02/17: 0.5 02/20: 4.1 Total: 32.5
  17. Just a bit of freezing drizzle/mist here now, picked up 4.1 overnight. 28.8/28.1
  18. Looking on traffic cams it looks like the line is from Harrisonburg to C'ville right now and slowly moving NE.
  19. I have an inch on the board and the roads are caving. 30.8/30.0 here. DP was in low 20's just 2 hours ago. It took about an hour of 20-30 dbz's overhead here before flakes started making it to the ground for those waiting to my north.
  20. I seem to get later and later with these...... For the month of Jan 2019 my location recorded 2.69 inches of liquid vs a normal of 2.77 inches, a -0.08 below average. Wettest day was the 20th with 0.73 inches. There were 13 days with measurable, 7 days with a 'T' and 11 dry days. Total snowfall for the month was 6.1 inches vs a normal of 7.0 inches, a -0.9 below average. Biggest snowfall was on the 13th with 4.4 inches falling. There were 3 days of measurable, 9 days with a 'T', and 19 snow-less days. Averaged high for the month was 41.1 degrees vs a normal of 42.5 degrees, a -1.4 below average. The warmest day was on the 9th with a 61.4 degree reading. Averaged low was 25.7 degrees vs a normal of 21.8 degrees, a +3.9 above average. The coldest day was the 21st and 22nd with identical 3.2 degree lows. The overall averaged temp for the month was 33.4 degrees vs a normal of 32.1 degrees, a +1.3 above average. The highest wind recorded for the month was 44 mph on the 25th. There were no new records created during the month.
  21. I'm about 50 miles SSW of you, first flakes are drifting down after about an hour of 20-30 dbz overhead.
  22. Yeah, that is close, at least within 80 inches or so. Course I knew it wouldn't be close, first off, DC doesn't have a ski resort like 5 miles outside it's city limits....
  23. E L E V A T I O N. That same distance probably goes from 600 ft to 3300-3500 ft
  24. I'll be honest, I haven't looked at models yet, but maybe the GFS has a slightly stronger H to the north of us (wall)?
