  2. Picked up 0.5 of sleet yesterday before the flip to freezing rain then rain. Rain was heavy for a couple hours. So that is 4.6 total snow/sleet for the storm and 1.79 liquid. Wet, wet, wet. Still have right at 3" of VERY sloppy snow/sleet/glop on the ground.
  3. This was a WET system! I had 0.78 of liquid at 7 am on 4.1 of snow. An insane 5.3 to 1. Course it snowed here for about an hour before it started sticking, so that skewed the numbers a bit. Today I picked up .5 of sleet and I changed gauges when the rain started....0.20 liquid, that is 2.5 to 1. Crazy!

  5. Just a bit of freezing drizzle/mist here now, picked up 4.1 overnight. 28.8/28.1
  6. Looking on traffic cams it looks like the line is from Harrisonburg to C'ville right now and slowly moving NE.
  7. I have an inch on the board and the roads are caving. 30.8/30.0 here. DP was in low 20's just 2 hours ago. It took about an hour of 20-30 dbz's overhead here before flakes started making it to the ground for those waiting to my north.
  8. I seem to get later and later with these...... For the month of Jan 2019 my location recorded 2.69 inches of liquid vs a normal of 2.77 inches, a -0.08 below average. Wettest day was the 20th with 0.73 inches. There were 13 days with measurable, 7 days with a 'T' and 11 dry days. Total snowfall for the month was 6.1 inches vs a normal of 7.0 inches, a -0.9 below average. Biggest snowfall was on the 13th with 4.4 inches falling. There were 3 days of measurable, 9 days with a 'T', and 19 snow-less days. Averaged high for the month was 41.1 degrees vs a normal of 42.5 degrees, a -1.4 below average. The warmest day was on the 9th with a 61.4 degree reading. Averaged low was 25.7 degrees vs a normal of 21.8 degrees, a +3.9 above average. The coldest day was the 21st and 22nd with identical 3.2 degree lows. The overall averaged temp for the month was 33.4 degrees vs a normal of 32.1 degrees, a +1.3 above average. The highest wind recorded for the month was 44 mph on the 25th. There were no new records created during the month.
  9. I'm about 50 miles SSW of you, first flakes are drifting down after about an hour of 20-30 dbz overhead.
  10. Yeah, that is close, at least within 80 inches or so. Course I knew it wouldn't be close, first off, DC doesn't have a ski resort like 5 miles outside it's city limits....
  11. E L E V A T I O N. That same distance probably goes from 600 ft to 3300-3500 ft
  12. I'll be honest, I haven't looked at models yet, but maybe the GFS has a slightly stronger H to the north of us (wall)?
  13. You just have to love CAD and our mountains! Look at the spread between Blacksburg (27) and Bristol (57) on that map. If the models are off just a bit and we hang on to the CAD several hours longer I can see a potential for .25/.5 of freezing rain in western VA areas.
  14. I'll let you give me 20 bucks to take them off your hands
  15. Back in my 'drinking days' (16-21, geesh that was a long time ago) whenever I had a couple PBR's I'd wake the next morning with the killer pounding headache. Nothing else EVER did that to me, beer, wine, whiskey, pure grain...all good, PBR's, bad.
  16. BINGO! I've 'shifted' for 33 years now. I think everyone should do a year of it just to get a 'feel' and appreciation for those that do it all the time.
  17. Yep, been looking in Summit County for a while now, yikes on the prices, and they are skyrocketing. I now looking Fairplay/Alma/Leadville areas. Wished when son first moved to Breck area I'd looked and bought then, prices up 75-100% in 4 years.
  18. After an almost month hiatus (and letting y'all play catch up) back with a nickel..... 12/5: 1.0 12/9: 0.5 12/10: 20.3 01/13: 4.4 01/14: 0.5 01/18: 1.2 02/17: 0.5 Total: 28.4
  19. Wow. Well, I haven't been in as much myself this month mainly 'cuz I didn't see a lot to track for my area except rain. Reading the past 24-36 hours... To chill, mappy, psu, showme and the rest all I can say is I do understand the frustration. Especially mappy, no sense in that. If y'all feel you need the break, please take it, but don't walk away, I enjoy the talk and fun with all of you. That said, I am sitting here enjoying the snow that all the north lost the other day, ain't much (0.5 so far), but better than the goose egg I've had for the last month. Wishing everyone a good and safe day out there!
  20. Yep. I had a mostly sunny Wednesday here, only day with clear skies in who knows how long. Looking at extended, it may be end of next week before it reappears. But, such is life around here. One of the cloudier spots in the US, especially from late fall thru spring. If it isn't NW flow off the lakes it is E/NE flow off the ocean banking up against the mountains. Then the gulf opens and ....more clouds lol.
  21. Awesome! Good luck. After you are certified, see if you can color in the radar with a HECS for the area last week of Feb.
  22. I'm sitting at 105%, 27.9 vs 26.7 normal. However, I was at 82% at the end of the year and haven't had measurable since 1/18......lots of T's and ice, no snow. Could be a LOT worse, like the disaster called winter 16-17 when only 6.4 fell here.
  23. Just missed ice again this am with a 33 low. Yesterday had .10 inch of ice/glaze on everything which was quite pretty but very slick. Currently raining and 33.6/33.0 here.
  24. New record 'warm minimum' set here, 50.9 degrees, which crushed the old mark of 45.4 set in 2017.
