  1. That is a right wicked looking storm on your avatar!
  2. Cool! I think that is what we are gonna do next year, ND/SD and NE Wyoming. Son sent me pic of about 4 inches of snow on his car earlier, it is his day off and he went up to A-Basin and boarded most of the day lol.
  3. TRUE! I have seen the geysers in snow on the web cams, would be super awesome to see it in person. I'll live through your lens if you get that lucky!
  4. Beautiful and safe travels out there!
  5. Son took a pic of me coming back down from Angels Landing in Zion, those chains are needed!!
  6. Sounds awesome! Yeah, son texted me about two hours ago, they back under a WSW...... Weather is very unsettled out that way, it snowed and sleeted on us several times while in the parks. Bryce was cool, lots of beautiful things to look at. Zion was just awesome. Capitol Reef is small, but still neat. Did Yellowstone and Tetons 4 years ago, it was in early June and warm, but still a little snow on the highest points. Enjoy and be safe out there!
  7. Back from out west. Wonderful vacation. Visited Capitol Reef NP, Bryce NP, Zion NP and Great Basin NP. It snowed/sleeted rained on us most days but still had a wonderful time. Only downfall was the river was WAY up in Zion and couldn't go up into the Narrows. Son and I both agreed we'd be back to do it another year, maybe combine only Zion and Grand Canyon (he wants to go rim to rim and back hiking there) to get it done. Climbing Angels Landing in Zion was awesome! Put 5400 miles on the car in two weeks lol. Beautiful parks, highly recommend Zion if you want to do a NP, but DO stay IN THE PARK. We did and so glad, if you stay outside you have to ride buses to go anywhere. You still have to ride buses above the lodge, but least you can go other places in your car and aren't tied to the bus schedule. Rooms outside the park are only 20-30 a night cheaper and the views from your window waking up in the park are worth that plus.
  8. Heading further west this am, after waking up to one heck of a heavy frost this morning. Low was 31, currently 36. Doing 4 NP's over the next 10 days, Capitol Reef, Bryce and Zion in UT and then Great Basin in NV. Spending two days in each but 4 in Zion. That will be 4 more into the bucket and bring total up to 17 done.
  9. Feels more like home each time I come out here. A beautiful 42 outside now, nice graupel shower rolled thru about an hour ago.....yes, back in Colorado.
  10. OK, TWO months in a row of me being 'on time' with a monthly report! BUT, don't get used to it lol April 2019 numbers for my location Averaged high for the month was 66.9 degrees vs a normal of 66.5 degrees, a +0.4 above average. Warmest temp recorded was 82.7 degrees on the 24th. Averaged low for the month was 43.5 degrees vs a normal of 38.4 degrees, a +5.1 degree above average and 4th warmest since records from 1980. Coolest temp recorded was 24.9 degrees on 1st and 2nd. Overall averaged temp for month was 55.2 degrees vs a normal of 52.8 degrees, a +2.7 above average. Total rainfall for the month was 6.38 inches vs a normal of 3.30 inches, a +3.08 above normal and 3rd wettest April since records kept in 1980. Wettest day was on 20th with 2.62 inches. 12. Another line of showers passed thru this am after a couple rounds last night, right at 50 degrees.
  13. Nice little thundershower rolled thru in last hour here. Dropped temp from mid 70's back to low 60's!
  14. You know it is gonna be an ugly day when it is 60 degrees at 7 am in the morning........in April.
  15. Exact opposite happened here yesterday. Day started partly cloudy and temps warmed into 50's, then it rapidly clouded over in late afternoon and got windy and cold with rain. Temps dropped back into low 40's in about 2 hours.
  16. Wow! That thing crossed 220 THREE times and only two injuries? Amazing and lots of lucky folks, that is a fairly busy road.
  17. Just dumped the rain gauge for the 7 am reading to CoCoRaHS. 2.62 inches for the day, that will set a new daily rainfall record for the date beating 2015's 1.84 inches.
  18. Over 1.25 so far today here, just had a mean looking storm roll overhead. LOTS of low hanging spinning clouds and winds gusted to 41 mph.
  19. Nice thundershower popped up out of nothing this am.......even caught NWS Blacksburg off-guard if you read their discussion page lol.
  20. I think I was too sleepy to realize it when I put my numbers in this am, but yesterdays 46.1 degree high shattered the previous record 'cool minimum' for the day of 53.0 from 1999. That is 7 degrees!!! Records back to 1980 for the date.
  21. All the rain has helped my seed poke out of the ground in past 24 hours! I may have a yard yet this summer lol.
  22. Looks like 3, maybe 4 inches? Not bad for the 2nd week of April.
  23. Loved what Columbus did to TB...at TB. lol
  24. I guess I'm with you then, let me know when the bad-mouthing can start.
