  1. Yeah, I'll split the difference. Took some measurements - got 1" in several places on our terrace. Elevated places (tables, chair arms).
  2. What passes for excitement this winter...
  3. Back from a nice run in Central Park at 65 degrees. I'll take it. Reminds me of Christmas Eve 2015.
  4. just started at tip of Wall Street. We should get it longer.
  5. Angle of that line looks like it’s primed for maximum duration in Manhattan!
  6. Snowfall rates have appreciably lessened in past 30 + minutes in lower Manhattan. Visibility has gone from about 1/2 mile to well over (based on looking out my window across the river at Brooklyn). Snow has not stuck to anything.
  7. In my new job I actually have operational responsibilities requiring me to track snow When would the heavier snow potentially hit in the city? Is this going to derail the evening commute?
  8. My new daytime/work location this year is right on the water, at the tip of Wall Street in lower Manhattan. Still drizzle here.
  9. What the hell is this. I rode my bike to work today on the wings of the perfect forecast.
  10. Not sure you call this rotation, but looking west from my window in midtown, I can clearly see a layer of clouds moving South (while the direction of the storms is from SW to NE). It's ominous as sh*t.
  11. I made this from tonight. Enjoy. https://vimeo.com/339030138 (annoying that embed doesn't work)
  12. Watching from the bleachers here on the UWS. All going to our south
  13. When do we think this realistically exits? We're flying out of JFK at 11 AM tomorrow.
  14. I am talking about today, a Monday. There are hundreds of thousands of kids probably unsupervised because their parents had to go to work. I honestly think it's the social media backlash (coverage of traffic jams) that creates the real fear (more so than actual legal exposure).
  15. I'm not questioning the measurement. I'm just saying it's a hollow 5" with the compaction and quick melting. As meaningful as being the NFC South Champion. :p I have a terrace with furniture on it, so I get to do the suburban picnic table measurement stuff, too.
  16. 5" at Central Park is like when the NFL season is over and the Houston Texans go 11-5 and win the division and you go, "huh." but you know it's meaningless and they'll be out in the first round.
  17. Congrats. I went to bed thinking that's what it would look like here.
  18. I think it's the logistics of getting a million + students on the move that has them avoiding any morning-of calls. Because of the scheduled end time of 4-5 AM and marginal temps I was telling my wife and son all weekend he'd have school. I hate to play armchair mayor, but this was a mistake. When you remember how many hundreds of thousands of kids are dependent on being in school for their meals, how many parents don't have the ability to just stay or work from home, it's is hugely disruptive.
  19. Gonna walk that back... hard. What a disaster. Did it stop snowing at 12:30?
  20. However much we get, it's going to be stunning the AM. Can see the snow is sticking to walls.
  21. yeah, Amsterdam Ave on UWS went snow covered in the last 15 minutes.
  22. Wrong. Spot I was eyeballing must be in a shadow. It was close to 2" in other measurements. 32/30.
