Central Park (CP): First Trace or measurable snow Wednesday 12/9/20?
hooralph replied to wdrag's topic in New York City Metro
Would have thought so. Last night there was even some remnant traces on the grass near Riverside Park. -
I'll take whatever we get this winter, but I am looking forward to any picturesque snow we get. We moved this fall and are right by Riverside Park... there are many Jebwalks in my future and I'll be amping my snow photography game again. We also have a good line of sight across multiple blocks that will allow me to estimate visibility with precision. So bring (whatever) on...

Yeah, I'll split the difference. Took some measurements - got 1" in several places on our terrace. Elevated places (tables, chair arms).- 1,119 replies

Back from a nice run in Central Park at 65 degrees. I'll take it. Reminds me of Christmas Eve 2015.

just started at tip of Wall Street. We should get it longer.

Angle of that line looks like it’s primed for maximum duration in Manhattan!

Observations of snow, sleet, freezing rain Sun-Tue Dec 1-2-early 3
hooralph replied to wdrag's topic in New York City Metro
Snowfall rates have appreciably lessened in past 30 + minutes in lower Manhattan. Visibility has gone from about 1/2 mile to well over (based on looking out my window across the river at Brooklyn). Snow has not stuck to anything.- 795 replies

In my new job I actually have operational responsibilities requiring me to track snow When would the heavier snow potentially hit in the city? Is this going to derail the evening commute?
-
My new daytime/work location this year is right on the water, at the tip of Wall Street in lower Manhattan. Still drizzle here.

When could the peak banding hit in the city?
