Will be interesting to see storm development in the next few hours on the upper Eastern Shore, maybe some interactions from earlier storm outflows. Storms are developing East of Baltimore and West of the Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Soil moisture is diving down rapidly. Needing rain is an understatement.

It's a rain Forrest out there.

Soil moisture levels here in the top 0 to 10 cm level have gone from 30 % on August 1 st to 22.77 % today. The lawn still looks decent only because recent air temps have caused a lowering of soil temps from 82 degrees F. on July 30 th to 72 degrees F. on August 9th. With the heatwave starting, and little to no rain this week, lawns and vegetation will be stressed. Wonder if a we get a Sept return of last year with extreme dryness.

That look would be enjoyable. Also, would keep Atlantic hurricanes away.

Very interesting. If you look at the radar loop, you'll see there was a cell near Middletown Delaware that then formed a cluster of showers that started to move Northwest across Northeast Maryland and continuing to do so while the main area precipitation is moving from Southwest to Northeast

I believe there have been a few days where the smoke has kept high temps down by a degree or two. Looking at the longer range the Boreal forrests of Canda will experience some rainfall, the first in a very long time. You can see it here from the WPC, of note is the reversal of the wetness here after months and months of rainfall.

Polar jet far to the North, with High pressure to the North of us West to East, lessens the possibility of a re-curve "if" a hurricane were to near the US SE Coast. Depends on the strength of the Bermuda High as well.

Was at the beach yesterday and the water was very, very warm. Also, the surf was rough with a NE wind that changed to Southerly in the afternoon, waves were messy, hard to ride with mostly onshore flow. The good thing was no jellyfish were sighted at North Wildwood.

There is a haze as well going on. Smoke at higher altitude I guess, but there was some mixing down possibly responsible for what I smelled on a walk early this morning.

Even though the air quality alert was taken off the forecast here in Delaware I can smell forrest fire smoke.

Sun came out briefly a bit ago, things really sped up compared to yesterday's forecast. Temp down to 74 with a NE wind presently.

1.84 inches here after the second storm. What a crazy July. So much rain the lawn had fungal disease this month, versus going crispy dormant.

Pretty good storm here, 1.10 inches, but does not compare up the round near Wilmington and Claymont with over 2 inches at Wilmington and reports of over 5 inches at Claymont, WTF. Thats crazy, my daughter in the area reports extensive flooding. The second area of heavy rainfall could lead to very serious consequences should it target northern Delaware later.
