    Flake size has gotten smaller as the temp is now 31. Still moderate snow. 1.5 inches so far.

    The snow line has been working slowly south on radar. Temp has fallen 4 degrees down in Lafollette.

    Future radar is probably full of itself but it shows some ++SN over my area from about 12:30-2.

    That burst of heavy snow did work in the temps in town. This is around 1300ft.

    Nickels falling now. This band will move out soon. Hopefully it fills back in tonight. Third snow event of the season and it's the 1st week of January. What a giant improvement over the last few years.

    Temp fell to 33 once it started ripping. It's let up a little now.

    It may stop soon. But right now we are at 2+ inch per hour rates. It's snowing harder than it did at any point in Christmas eve.

    Rapid acceleration to fatties. Ground turning white. This is why I knew MRX was off when talking about ground temps hindering sticking. It was 22 this morning, 36 for the high. It's early January. Ground temps aren't an issue. Especially with goose feathers.

    Lots of blue overhead on radar, but still virga as of 5 minutes ago.

    0 precipitation at all here so far. 35 dp 29.

    It certainly can't hurt. It's 35 here currently, even the valley areas are in the upper 30s. Oak Ridge is 39 though they were predicted to hit 47 today.

    Not sure if it will make a big difference, but there's been a massive bust on high temps today. Most forecasts had the area in the mid to upper 40s. It's around 10 degrees cooler.

    Poor MRX, the models still can't agree, say downsloping could be an issue for eastern areas, the plateau and SWVA cold enough for snow but not all models give precip, the central valley borderline for snow or rain. This is one of the most complicated forecasts you can have. I don't envy any position they take regarding winter products.

    I expect a WWA at least, models are showing WSW level snow falling.
