Very surprised you switched to rain snow mixed. What is the temperature there?
-
Approaching an inch in about 35 minutes of all snow. Heavy snow and half dollar or bigger sized flakes still falling. Temp is 32.8.
-
Probably 2-3 inch per hour rates. Don't know how long it can last but I may approach warning criteria. There was 0 sleet here. Just rain/snow then snow.
-
Silver dollar goosefeather fatties.
-
Temp went from 36 to 33. I watched a weather station at 1240 feet down in town fall from 40 to 35 in 7 minutes as the changeover happened.
-
Half dollar+ super soakers flying now. It's as heavy as it has snowed all winter season.
-
Heavy snow now. It took about 20 minutes to switch. Quarter + sized flakes.
-
No, the radar was blank here at 11. I did have some virga earlier.
-
HRRR was too quick on the changeover here. It had shown me as all snow at this point but had shown precip here at 11pm and it literally didn't get here until 11:55 roughly. The cold seems to be very rate driven and it's colder to the south of me under heavier rates regardless of elevation right now. I'm probably going to come in under the predicted totals it was throwing out but hopefully it goes full snow here before too long.

36.
-
Finally started here. Rain/snow mix.
-
The RAP is beastly.
-
The radar looks like rain changing to snow from south to north. You won't see that very often. It's mainly because of heavier precip rates moving South to North but it looks neat on radar.
-
I hate the wait. I should be about an hour from it getting going here.
-
Coach B's report reflects the HRRR accurately showing the changeover there in Middle Tennessee south of Nashville.
-
If you're down to 34 I'm surprised you're not fully snowing yet. There must be a warm nose below 850.
-
The beastly band should be arriving soon. So far the little that's moved overhead here hasn't reached the ground.
-
Borderline temps most likely, leading to them just not being sure. 1 degree will have huge consequences. The ground itself is no issue. It was well below freezing across the area this morning, it didn't get very warm. It's dark. Rates should be heavy. We are in the middle of prime snow climo for Tennessee. If snow falls it will stick.
-
Blues moving overhead on radar. Nothing has reached the ground here yet. The low dp is coming up though.
-
6z is 1am currently. 2 when we spring forward. So you don't have to stay up as late as you thought!
-
When it is down you can get a close idea from looking at where the HRRR initializes.
-
Normally here. http://weather.rap.ucar.edu/upper/ But they went down a few minutes ago now I can't get it to pull up the current map.
-
First round of precip looks like it is going to pass south of me. 850s look a little colder than the NAM forecast.
-
37/25 here. Steady falling Temps. Kinda surprised by it.
-
Surprised you're that high. Crossville is only 22 and I know you're just a few miles from there as the crow and weather flies.
