  1. Wind power has faced some serious opposition up here. A serious case of NIMBYism, it comes from across the ideological spectrum. There are people who think it isn't reliable enough and people who don't want to "industrialize" ridgelines.
  2. Flakes mixed with graupel falling lightly but steadily. 36.8°/33.3°
  3. Check that, just noticed a few stray flurries floating down.
  4. Must be a lot of virga because there is nothing falling from tne sky here.
  5. Just heard that. Maine State Police have a 10 pm press conference.
  6. I met Jeff a few years ago at the Maine snowmobile show and you are correct, he is a great guy. My condolences Jeff. I hope you can get some riding in this year to be able to get away from it all for a bit.
  7. I don't see postponing it to be feasible either. Though since there is no Sunday hunting in ME, I guess they could postpone Saturday.
  8. Lots of people with rifles will be entering the Maine woods in the next week or so. If he’s still at large, do the chances of someone coming across him go up?
  9. That’s what I was thinking. Head north towards the Allagash or somewhere in Baxter.
  10. Always seems to tease us an hour or two before sunset with a few breaks of sun.
  11. 1032 means person with gun. https://policecodes.net/ten-codes/10-32
  12. Just heard the Auburn mayor on tv. He mentioned the Walmart distribution center.
  13. Big woods in Maine to hide in if you’ve got survival skills.
  14. Glad you and your family are safe. This is awful. What the fuck.
  15. CNN saying at least 16 dead and 50-60 wounded. This picture was posted in a Discord I’m on.
  16. I don't want the headaches that come with it this early. My snowblower is still in the shop and even if it wasn't, it would be a mudblower with this.
  17. Eff that. Flurries, an inch or two? Yes but I don't need that a week from now. I still have stuff to do outside and breaking my back clearing that slop isn't on the list.
  18. It's hard make the decision to open if you can't reliably cover your costs. In 2012 the golf course I was president of decided to open in early April after the record warm March. We brought back staff 3 weeks early, got a few good days in and then the weather turned shitty and we couldn't cover the costs we were incurring. That was a setback for the member owned 9 hole course that has 6 month season.
  19. Cloudy and 56° isn't the worst to play in.
