But I still don't understand, shouldn't you have to show proof of damages? Making a declaration means nothing.

Just because you declare a State of Emergency gets you money? What kind of scam is that?

So a torndo watch until only 2 PM? I take it any atmospheric support conditions will have exited before any potential heavy downpours arrive closer to 4 PM?

I guess there is a slight chance of a severe cell in NE NJ/NYC but it looks like the bulk of the system is even a little farther west. Maybe the only thing that worries me for the greater NYC metro is that strange "remnant" still down around Charleston...

Heat does increase evaporation. Hopefully the overall distribution of precipitaton does not change much, but that remains to be seen. It would be great if areas that hardly see any rain receive a little extra help. but I don't think nature always has fairness in mind. What we don't want to see is areas dry up due to global warming...

We haven't had an overwhelming amount of mosquitoes yet, like we usually do. I planted 8, several died, and replanted more, only wound up with 2. I thought if I had about 6-8 plants on and surrounding my deck, it might deter the hellish beasts? Walmart had a large 3 wick citronella candle for less than $5, just in case, but its been too hot this summer to really test it out. Then again, who knows how much active ingredient is actually in the candle? Amazingly, the 5 years I had an RV, we could sit out at any campground, and our sites were usually water front. They must have sprayed like crazy...

Did it in 90 degree heat with a 99 degree index. Thatched, mowed, seeded ($27 a bag) and covered with topsoil (only $10 a bag). I didn't faint, but I usually melt in heat. Maybe getting used to this inferno?

I take it the HRRR uses the most recent sounding data? It seems to change by the hour, sometimes quite drastically.

As global temperatures rise, I guess it's easy just to assume that this will spawn more tropical systems? A novice could just forecast 2 storms above the average...

skeptical, since we saw a similar pattern disappear 2 weeks ago...

Amazing. Newark usually is one of the "hot spots" but it is east enough for sea breeze effects.
