    It’s been a lonnnnnnng time since we’ve had a storm as currently modeled. We are way overdue for an old fashioned HEAVY WET SNOW!

    Having a hard time believing that suppression will be an issue this early in December. I’ve seen crazier things though. Suppression will obviously hurt us NW folks vs you guys in SW mtns. Also, here’s a link to check out some awesome aerial footage from the big ASU win yesterday.

    I’ve got the count at 4 here in Boone. Had the first ice storm and then the next night had a solid dusting of snow. Had the second ice storm last Friday night and now this snow event. It’s not even December yet!

    I’ve been watching my camera as I work on a video and we’ve had some decent squalls come through Boone. Everything is solid white.

    Seems that temps held longer than modeled per the usual with these CAD events. It left a beautiful sight for the 2nd time so far this early Winter season. Boone, NC

    Light rain in Boone as of about 5 minutes ago

    Rain gauge here in Boone showing 2.75” and a good portion of that fell below freezing. Could have been really bad if we were in the middle of winter.

    Avery County schools are dismissing early. Incredible. Mountain counties are getting reallllly bad for missing or dismissing over non events. Haven’t seen anything showing temps getting below freezing any sooner than 7-8pm if not later than that. .

    Had a neighbor tell me today that she remembers a pretty bad ice storm around Thanksgiving in the early 80’s around Boone. She was thinking 82 or 83. Anyone remember that one?

    I also can’t believe how little talk there is about tomorrow night. Almost no one is talking about it that I’ve seen whether on social media or news. I think many will be surprised Thursday morning.

    Eyewall has really tightened up, looks perfect on radar now. Notice I’m just west of Wilmington. Power went out about 2 hours ago. Getting some very powerful gusts.

    It came a hell of a thunder storm last night around 230am. Hellacious thunder and it absolutely poured. I’m on my way to Leland NC to ride out the storm. It’s about 20 min west of Wilmington .

    What I’d do to have those foot plus totals slide on down into NW NC mtns. Haven’t had a single storm produce more than 5” .

    I sure as heck hope so. It’s been an abysmal winter here in Boone imo. Only 2 “decent” storms at 4 and 5” respectfully. Would LOVE to see a double digit storm to end the season. .

    I swear the models get worse and worse every year. So far we’ve had a non existent storm become a storm with 48 hours and we’ve had a massive parade of storms at 7-10 days become non existent storms. Really pisses you off. .
