As many of you know, I'm a sit back and let the weather happen kind of guy, so who knows where it will take us. That said, wasn't it pointed out by many who are talking about the potential big pattern change coming that a wintry event this weekend was to be considered a bonus as the pattern change comes after this weekend?

It certainly does. I think the flip at the end, even for us, is inevitable but the damage will be done by then. Folks who don't clean up in time are sure to have a frozen mess on their hands as legit winter temps look to return afterwards.

I didn't have to turn mine off, it didn't run on its own from Saturday morning until this morning on the downstairs zone, second floor zone didn't even call for heat this morning. Folks talking about how cold it feels this morning, which is still 10-12 above average, and already freaking out about this weekend. So yeah, what a good winter is is certainly relative.

Years ago my brother lived about 20 miles SE of Syracuse, with good elevation, and each year I would visit at least once in the winter, right around now actually since his birthday is today. I got to experience some terrific snow bands over those years up there. Also got to experience ground blizzard conditions where we had trouble seeing past the hood of his pickup, complete whiteout but yet when I looked up I could see the sun and blue skies through the blowing snow. I don't really care if others call it 'fake snow', its awesome to experience.

I am south of 84...by about 1/4-1/2 mile

To date, I have above average snowfall. Granted the bulk of that fell in the early December storm.

14.9" on the season now with 12.4" being the average to date, so still technically above normal here. That said, that's just numbers, as far as how it feels....winter went into hibernation right before Christmas.

.9 here this morning. I’m with y’all though, the higher events we’ve had so far involved mixing. 14.9” on the season here now.

If you’re considering this an event then the answer is no it won’t be since we already had a couple other small events that were all snow, at least I did, the squalls on 12/18 come to mind right off the bat.

I joke in the headline about where winter is but the Euro advertises some winter up here over the weekend. Will be interesting to see how that develops over the next few days.

I do have flurries this morning though.
