Yep, we’ve seen this before, up to .99 now. Yesterday some were questioning if anything of note would happen north of 95, NW of 287 even though the models had whatever was going to fall coming in overnight. This is pretty much exactly what I’d been expecting IMBY but I know that is subjective and location based.

Again, haven't been through that one but in general, narrow lanes is a traffic calming device as it mentally causes most drivers to slow down. When we came back from Texas on Monday we were on the Garden State for a bit around the lunch hour. We could not believe how bad people were driving even at that hour. For example, saw three different cars dart to the right to exit from the middle lane at the last possible second.

I haven't been through there yet. Roundabouts are definitely something people need to get used to but they are much more effective at moving traffic, and safer once people get used to it as there are much less potential collision points. There are a number of other more effective and safer designs for intersections/interchanges that are finally startingto get implemented more these days. Unfortunately people don't like change and like to complain so many won't be happy unless they are sitting still at a red light in a tradition intersection.

This weekend looks to be a good test.

I feel that pain. Fortunately I have a second zone for upstairs, where the bedrooms are, that I can leave off. Even when I have that zone on it's set cooler than downstairs to avoid the hot bedroom issue. Humidity, both high and low, affects me more than temps, but with baseboard hot water heat I won't need the humidifiers fired up until winter.

No but it had to be in October. I think the whole fight to turn the heat on for as long as possibly is silly. If someone really wants to save on their hearing costs then turn your heat off for a day during a cold spell...

Thank you for proving my point. I’d say that’s a no, at least not with government attorneys and/or emergency services.
-
People don't even read what the State of Emergency is specifically for, they just assume it means they are supposed to stay home. Some times that is the case, often it isn't.

If it was just me then the heat would've stayed off but I figured I'd throw my bride a bone. Wait, wut

Long work day today, is the storm off? Is it back on? Off again? Winter cancel?
-
It was early here based on 21 seasons of records. The average dates are 10/12 for first frost, 10/22 for first freeze and 10/28 for first hard freeze.
-
Low of 28. Managed my first frost, freeze, and hard freeze all on the same night, the last time that happened 2021.
-
My thermostat kicks off between 65-67 depending on which cycle during the day. Made it down to 28.

I caved, flipped the heat on just now, it was 59 downstairs. 29 degrees and still dropping, can I get to 28...
-
Yes, 29 here, just down the road from there currently. KMGJ is a good radiation spot.

Like you ever watched it...

To that point I posted this is the NW thread

The forecasted low for tomorrow morning is 29 here, up from a forecasted 26 when I looked yesterday morning. I don’t know if that will be enough for me to flip on the heat but looking at the weekend as a whole I’m guessing it will be on for a bit at some point. Now as we look at this potential nor'easter I can’t help but think back to falls like 1995 and 2002 when we flipped from warm and dry to stormy and eventually snowy. Now before some weenie starts screaming about how nothing this year looks the same as those years, blah, blah, blah all I’m saying is sometimes, just sometimes, we can look back at an event and say that it started it all. In the words of Rudy’s best friend Pete in that classic movie “Having dreams is what makes life tolerable.” (STFU @BxEngine)
