  1. Yup, cranked the heat up and sent the kids in....maybe push for tomorrow and Tuesday before closing up?
  2. Yellows, with the occasional oranges/red showing up here in the valley....still a long ways to go around here
  3. No thanks...way too much of that here of late. A snowy November through March would be alright though! Those few mornings of sub 30 and now 80+ feels weird, it felt like August today, the kids swam in the pool for a bit. Temperature was actually 68 before I kicked the heater on, sun is still cooking the water, just a bit at least.
  4. 28.6 this morning...Looks like a warmup is coming, 70s/50s would be just fine until November
  5. Great views from my house as it sits at the high point of the "valley". I don't think those hills will effect much, might end up staying under 32 in freezing rain events though. The breezes are great, so much better than our last place, surrounded by trees, never had any breezes, always felt stagnant.
  6. The bottom third, that the main unit is attached to is a galvanized steel pipe. The anemometer is attached to an aluminum pole that is used for a roof rake. Since it doesn't snow anymore, I figured the pole would get better use holding an anemometer...
  7. Thanks, definitely want to maintain my credibility in the temperature department...lol I planted a few apple trees the other day and the soil was super sandy, the whole way down. Not a rock to be found, amazing to find in SNE...Interesting microclimate for sure
  8. Tell me about it. I am a little OCD with numbers and I am starting to question the Davis. Yesterday I installed it 6 ft off the ground. It is located at the lower edge of the property. Everything is frozen today, so it got below freezing, just not sure about 28 degrees. The location is unique and will be fun this winter, hopefully...
  9. It is only September 21st, I will not turn my heat on, I will not turn my heat on.....28.0 for the low, 28.6 currently and 61 in the house
  10. 36.7/32.5.....way too cold for September 20th down here in SNE
  11. Finally got the Davis setup, temporarily at least until I get the garden built and the anemometer on top of the house....
  12. 39.6/37 atm, going to be well under 30 by morning....cant this stuff wait until the end of October?
  13. I knew it was going to get cold, but not this cold. There goes the growing season it seems....
  14. 49.5/42 here in Radiator City aka Southbury CT...definitely getting frost here in the next few days, hopefully not a killing freeze. Just got in from a walk with the kids, crystal clear skies and only a slight breeze. The air had that frosty feel to it. Trees are just beginning to turn as well...pumpkin spice season has begun!
  15. Looking at the radar, you would think we had a big old rainstorm heading our way......hopefully this isn't the harbinger of things to come this winter.
  16. 38.7 this morning, 2 days in a row that have made it into the upper 30s. Not ready for this cold yet...where is the rain!?!?
  17. 47.5 at 9:17 pm on September 15th...not too bad. I assume the southerly breeze kicks in sometime after midnight, at this rate we will be in the low 30s by morning if this keeps up.
  18. I left the window fans on last night....59 in the house this morning
  19. Ha, yeah I should change that...thanks for the reminder. I see someone a few miles away made it down to 38, so I might not be that far off.
  20. I was in Newtown, moved to Southbury. I sit in a small valley...the soil is really sandy and we have had very little rain, so it is bone dry. That probably aids a bit in the radiating department. I have a 3 year old Vantage Pro 2, so it should be close to reality.
  21. Wow, 37.8 here for the low...my new place radiates so well. I expected low 40s, not upper 30s
  22. Down to 52 here already...I was hoping to keep the pool open for another week or 2, but it doesn't look very warm moving forward. The kids were only in for 20 minutes today, a good sign that things are getting a bit too chilly for swimming. The temp was still 74 this afternoon...
  23. Gorgeous day for a hike today. Can we have days like today until November 15th?
  24. 44.8 will do it here, coldest of the young season so far...
