  1. Without looking back, I feel like the UK showed this type of outcome yesterday @ 12z?
  2. GEFS @ 12z today continue showing less of a "pig" out in the 10-15 day range. Almost completely replacing it with a ridge and a trough in the east....hope it continues this look as we move closer
  3. 13.6⁰, first morning the furnace had to kick on....wood stove couldn't keep the house warm enough overnight
  4. almost looks like a steady stream of clippers running down that ridge in the midwest, maybe the ridging up north can slow one of those down just a bit and give us something more than a couple inches?
  5. Long range on the GEFS continues to look questionable....lots of blues showing up from the arctic the whole way down to Cali, can't be good. At least the Greenland blocking continues to hold on...
  6. Both older kids had basketball tryouts yesterday, otherwise we would have made the trek to Watertown. Closer to here and alot more Air BNBs available.... Kicking myself now, probably could have left afterwards and still beat the beginning of the band up there. Hope it snows here soon, might have to head to Vermont to find snow.
  7. just another ensemble member at this time frame....hopefully GEFS mean still maintains the look
  8. GFS going to look just a bit different this time it seems....
  9. GFS with quite the stormy look after Thanksgiving, even after the big weekend storm. Cold air is over us or nearby throughout the run. Could be quite the stretch, if of course the GFS has a clue. One thing has been for any warmup showing up in the 10-15 day period, has kind of disappeared as we have gotten inside of 10 days and not the other way around. Again, just a grain of salt is taken, especially this early in the season...
  10. Amazing the difference in look, especially being "only" 7-8 days out. One of them should start to cave fairly soon I would think. This is a pretty large scale pattern, versus a system possibly phasing or how close to the coast it might be...
  11. -NAO flexing a bit? Looks like the whole system slows down...
  12. I am thinking about moving my Davis somewhere else on the property, but currently is in a perfect position relative to trees/sun/house. It just so happens to be at the lowest point of the property. Might add a second weather station. Any good recommendations that aren't on on the Davis level of cost but have a good thermometer/hygrometer combo?
  13. That is definitely the icebox for CT....only 18.9⁰ here that morning.
  14. I am no professional when looking at the long range ensembles, but that to my untrained eye did not look very good....reminded me a bit of that map you posted from 2011 a couple days back.
  15. I know right? Just thought it looked off, not trying to be "that guy".... Plenty of winter to go
  16. Looks like the sleet line is right over head here.....it was a good start to the season, hoping to use the shovel sooner rather than later. 34.7/28.0
  17. GEFS at 18z looked a tad bit hostile towards the end, except for a bit a ridging in Greenland. Hopefully just a blip and not a trend....
  18. 40/23 atm with a few random sleet pellets falling from the sky...first frozen of the season for here
  19. last night the wood stove was cooking, hit 82° in the living room....I did not add another log after 10 pm and it was still 66° when I woke up this morning. Not too bad despite the 18.9° temp this morning
  20. 18.9° this morning, setting the stage for at least the first flakes tonight. 12z HRRR has it's coldest run down here so far, at least a few hours of frozen precip, possibly even a slushy inch
  21. I have 4 kids, their health always comes before the "look" of my yard, no chemicals and tick prevention, rake all the leaves and cut the grass pretty low before winter sets in. Otherwise I would leave the leaves go and let nature do what it does with them....
  22. And just like that, 3:45 pm the sun is just about gone. You can feel the chill as soon as it sets over that ridge...some of the reason we radiate so well, the sun disappears so early. 53/19 atm
  23. 76/63 at 9:55 am on November 7th....shorts/t-shirt and still sweating. Sun feels hot, I fully expect to see snow within the next 2 weeks
