  1. 4 inches here will feel like a full blown snowstorm for this year.....
  2. I have been tracking it like a 1-2 footer, 3.7" is the largest here so far....
  3. most of the lower 48 is above freezing at 850, at day 10, in January.....
  4. I moved up here from Delaware 5 years ago, it has been much improved on my average of 15 inches per year down there. But no blockbusters yet, my "bad" year last year was 35 inches....so it is all perspective, but this year has sucked since early December, only 10" here so far.
  5. but it has a change over at the end....Lol
  6. even if it is just 1-2", I just want it to stay mainly frozen. I do not want to go into our "cold" stretch with frozen, brown ground. At least keep it white for a few days...
  7. Lol, just saw the clown maps....6 inches for us, I will take it but we all know 2-4 is more realistic, unless the Nam was actually on to something?
  8. Yeah, I am just half joking...When I see massive cold dumps, I just assume cold and dry. This "warmer" look showing up might just do it for us, with a nice snow blitz coming up. I am definitely optimistic.
  9. Its going to be 2016 all over again, the GFS at 18z gives me flashbacks....No snow, followed by a monster storm just to our south, that would push many off the edge, lol
  10. GFS at day 8 looks like it might have a fun solution....lots up blocking up north
  11. Would be nice to get a good thump to drizzle instead of an extended period of rain like some of the models have been showing...So bring that dryslot through here as quick as possible, the Nam was close to all frozen at the end of the run here. Hopefully that trend continues...
  12. not a met, but when lower heights start showing up in the Alaskan region in the longer range with temps below average in that region, it is definitely a step backwards. The -EPO is starting to fade....never a good sign unless there is a -AO or -NAO showing up which might be starting to happen in the AO region, but nothing exciting as of now....Locally, I am amazed at how warm the coastal waters are in the Eastern Atlantic and the entire basin for the most part...definitely affecting systems like this weekend more so than normal with an easterly flow.
  13. They definitely seemed to have taken another step backwards last night (ensembles), but still workable around here. hopefully....Maybe we do have to wait until February, definitely a warmer look showing up 10 days from now. Hopefully we can score a quick 2-4 inches Saturday
  14. There is always light at the end of the tunnel, lol.....More of a step down to the eventual cold pattern setting up toward the end of the month, I would assume.
  15. I haven't looked at the ensembles today, but maybe something comes out of no where 5-6 days out? Something like the Euro was teasing with yesterday...But the way this season has gone, besides 10 days in December I am sure we are going to end up with -10°F departures with a trace of precip until the brief warmup beginning to show up in the 10 day means...
  16. My dog was carrying this around this morning...haven't seen this toy since November? Sign of the times?
  17. like my 1 inch of sleet/snow will be doing on Saturday night...seems like we can't even get a good snow to sleet to drizzle SWFE...This will be a quick burst of snow to pouring rains down here, then a flash freeze of our mud puddles
  18. This....Just walked outside to misery mist falling, I am about ready to move on to spring(probably more misery mist)....Sunday was amazing. On the other hand, we need a harsh winter soon or we will be dealing with EEE before we know it....
  19. 66 for the high here....no kidding, just had a wasp sting our dog and come after me, is this real for January? Pretty sure it's not normal....
  20. 63 at 11:30 am on January 11th, birds singing like it is Spring....
  21. time to stock up on firewood and fill the oil tanks.....I hope the snow bullseye sets up about 150ish miles to the west, for personal reasons obviously
  22. I have an 8 and 6 year old that find any reason to go outside, in pretty much any weather...they are definitely in the minority. They will go on "play dates" which end up sitting inside and watching tv or playing on some sort of electronic device. It is sad, I remember never wanting to be inside while growing up, I still don't....
  23. That was the infamous "bomb cyclone" I still ended up with 11.5" from that....
  24. I hope so, just saw pictures from the blizzard 2 years ago....I am ready, lol
