  1. The lower angle stuff is better for sure. My son did ski Beast and said it was fun. He is 13 so there's that.
  2. Seems like there are chances in the 26th-29th timeframe. Canadian at 12z has some fun with the clipper.
  3. Be nice to see this get more organized. That 6z GFS was looking more fun. Seems like a thread the needle situation with the two pieces of energy phasing.
  4. GFS has been playing around with the clipper next Wednesday. Maybe some to keep an eye on?
  5. What did they have open for trees? Stratton has very underrated glades that aren't skied very much.
  6. Berkshire East was fantastic early this morning. Skinned up at 7:15, got first tracks down Umass. Managed a bunch runs before taking a long break around 11. I even taught a couple lessons in the afternoon. Several of my favored tree shots were very skiable on the fat skis. This snow is the base we really need!
  7. Another Miller A? People are going to get upset!
  8. December 2012 the winter after the balmy, sunny winter of 2011-2012. 2012-13 especially mid Feb onward was a great run for you eastern folks.
  9. I feel like both of those did well here. I remember 12/26/2012 well. We got around 12" of heavy snow. I pretty sure it got destroyed by a January thaw. Man I wish the second half of that winter could walk through our door!
  10. I drive a Subaru with a stick and snow tires. My drive to work is more fun than anything else! I don't see much in the morning, some times deer and local cops. That is about it.
  11. 116 is south of Route 2 and doesn't have the same elevation. But Savoy is up over 1800' feet in most spots.
  12. I love my job so I don't mind the commute. I drive route 2 to Charlemont, 8A to Plainfield and 116 to some back roads to Lanesborough.
  13. Berks are going to do just fine! I'll send some pics of my morning commute Tuesday through Savoy.
  14. Unless this really goes west I don't think ski country is in any danger. Everyone could use a nice heavy water content snowfall and a refreeze to create a more sustainable base in the woods. It's all about the base!
  15. Berkshire East is looking good considering our lack of natural snow so far. The ponds are primed up for another long snowmaking run. I skinned up mohawk to the summit this afternoon. Skied flying cloud top to bottom and I will say it was very nice. They were grooming upper comp and making more snow over on minnie dole I think. It would be nice to have several more trails open for the holiday weekend, its going to be very busy. We really need some snow!
  16. I remember the historic cold snap from 1994 well. Kids sitting at the bus stop in -20 temps at 7am didn't ever seem like an issue back then. No such thing as a snow day for cold. That was crazy. But my parents told me to put on a coat and hat I did what they told me or fear the consequences. Kids are much less likely to listen to their parents these days.
  17. My school district called it tomorrow. It takes a boat load of snow to ever get a snow day out in the Berkshires but they are fast on the gun to cancel due to cold. I'll take it. Might go make some turns at Berkshire East. Bundle up!
  18. Liftopia is still around they only have Saddleback on there last time I checked. (Nice side trip from the loaf by the way) I'm not aware of any discounts to Sugarloaf these days. They are owned by a fairly large resort company, Boyne.
  19. I’d think Berkshire East is closed the next couple days as well. They need to maximize this cold window to blow like mad. Not only do they need to resurface but they really should open some more terrain if they can. Time to sacrifice a weenie to get this storm Friday to work out.
  20. I normally would be but alas they are closed again today.
  21. I used to live in Washington for a while! I don't think you are understanding what I am saying. The Cascades don't go right into the ocean.
  22. Love the white right against the coast. Besides the Olympics it usually doesn't snow that much in those mountains. Like being in Alaska or BC.
  23. Should be a decent offering. Chief top to bottom, lower comp and outback. Likely upper mohawk by Thursday. Not bad considering they just started making snow for real yesterday.
  24. My friend is at Stratton now and says it's glorious spring skiing. No base left in the woods though but 6-10" of meat would greatly help that situation. I'm arranging my schedule to head there on Monday.
  25. Those two mountains could use a really meaty snowfall with some sleet mixed in. I’d assume they have zero base left even up high.
