  1. Berks are going to do just fine! I'll send some pics of my morning commute Tuesday through Savoy.
  2. Unless this really goes west I don't think ski country is in any danger. Everyone could use a nice heavy water content snowfall and a refreeze to create a more sustainable base in the woods. It's all about the base!
  3. Berkshire East is looking good considering our lack of natural snow so far. The ponds are primed up for another long snowmaking run. I skinned up mohawk to the summit this afternoon. Skied flying cloud top to bottom and I will say it was very nice. They were grooming upper comp and making more snow over on minnie dole I think. It would be nice to have several more trails open for the holiday weekend, its going to be very busy. We really need some snow!
  4. I remember the historic cold snap from 1994 well. Kids sitting at the bus stop in -20 temps at 7am didn't ever seem like an issue back then. No such thing as a snow day for cold. That was crazy. But my parents told me to put on a coat and hat I did what they told me or fear the consequences. Kids are much less likely to listen to their parents these days.
  5. My school district called it tomorrow. It takes a boat load of snow to ever get a snow day out in the Berkshires but they are fast on the gun to cancel due to cold. I'll take it. Might go make some turns at Berkshire East. Bundle up!
  6. Liftopia is still around they only have Saddleback on there last time I checked. (Nice side trip from the loaf by the way) I'm not aware of any discounts to Sugarloaf these days. They are owned by a fairly large resort company, Boyne.
  7. I’d think Berkshire East is closed the next couple days as well. They need to maximize this cold window to blow like mad. Not only do they need to resurface but they really should open some more terrain if they can. Time to sacrifice a weenie to get this storm Friday to work out.
  8. I normally would be but alas they are closed again today.
  9. I used to live in Washington for a while! I don't think you are understanding what I am saying. The Cascades don't go right into the ocean.
  10. Love the white right against the coast. Besides the Olympics it usually doesn't snow that much in those mountains. Like being in Alaska or BC.
  11. Should be a decent offering. Chief top to bottom, lower comp and outback. Likely upper mohawk by Thursday. Not bad considering they just started making snow for real yesterday.
  12. My friend is at Stratton now and says it's glorious spring skiing. No base left in the woods though but 6-10" of meat would greatly help that situation. I'm arranging my schedule to head there on Monday.
  13. Those two mountains could use a really meaty snowfall with some sleet mixed in. I’d assume they have zero base left even up high.
  14. Jay Is straight up awesome! Woods are pretty game on. Thinking about tomorrow makes me sad.
  15. Jay Peak for me tomorrow and Saturday. Tomorrow looks pretty decent all things considered. They have some natural trails and glades open. Saturday is a different story. Little bit of rain skiing and probably some IPAs!
  16. 12/2010 seemed similar to me across the whole lower 48. Not sure about the mild up next week. But midwest snows and sierras getting crushed happened that month as well. Im sure it's not the same overall pattern at all but it just feels similar.
  17. I’ve actually never skied Granite Gorge. I had a student pass there my first year getting my masters. I never used it once at the actual hill because the lift broke. I used several of the freedom pass days. Weird fact. Lift hasn’t opened in several years.
  18. They may open next weekend if they survive the warmth and rain Monday. Pretty late start for them but I guess getting the new snowmaking equipment up and running took some time.
  19. Just leaving Stratton. Whatever they got blew around everywhere. I’m sure killington is the same way.
  20. I'll be there! Looks like they may be getting some natural tomorrow and some heavy wet snow on Monday.
  21. Please make this happen! Not too confident looking at the the 0z and 12z vs 6z and 18z. But maybe this trend at 18z will continue.
  22. Going to be interesting how Thanksgiving weekend shakes down. I don't care about snow or snowmaking weather in my hood but up north it would be nice to see places open Wednesday and Thursday next week. Monday looks not so nice for the fresh made snow. Hopefully it is a light rain.
  23. I'd take the 0z GFS vs the 6z GFS for the places I'll be skiing next week. EURO... I'm running and hiding.
  24. What a nice couple days. Did a quick 4 mile ride at the Warfield house in Charlemont before dark yesterday. Pretty glorious. Now today is even nicer! Much better than the typical November misery.
  25. Killington was super fun yesterday. It was all as expected but it wasn’t terrible.
